If you’re tired of feeling like there’s nothing that you can do to help make the world a better place besides voting, I’m here to tell you that there is…

Volunteer.

Food banks, soup kitchens, senior centers, blood banks, animal shelters, and more. Find a place where you can be in the service of others. Where you can give back to the community that you live in.

It’s a great way to get out of your own head. Serve others, and serve the better parts of yourself in return

@Mrfunkedude I'm planning to take a part time job in a local diner next week, and I have these very thoughts as part of my justification.
@Mrfunkedude it gives a lot of people a sense of purpose, camaraderie as well as happiness.

@Mrfunkedude Join the trade union. The more people who unite, the stronger our collective voice becomes.
@Mrfunkedude adding to the theme : there's volunteering you can do from home! For example, I've often collaborated with non profits who want to make educational materials for underprivileged children. And given online lectures for free schools. Find something that you can do. My neighbour has a little backyard and she takes care of an enormous mango tree. She gives them out every summer. One small thing will also help I promise.
@Mrfunkedude Yes, we’re all looking for that decisive action - one big thing that will change the direction society’s going, but actually most of the time, it’s lots of people doing lots of little things which improves the lives of others and themselves.

@Mrfunkedude You meet the best people when you volunteer!

@Mrfunkedude Couldn't agree more. Community, motherfuckers - that's how we beat them.
@Mrfunkedude I started doing some weekly bushcare last year and it's the best thing I've started in years. It's so tangible and soothing.

And you meet the nicest people while you’re at it.

If you’re into knitting or crocheting, a local hospital could probably using some small hats and blankets for neonates and the NICU.
