Hmm, I am curious how many wheelchair users are asking for AI- and drone-enabled wheelchairs.

AI Wheelchair Technology Moves Closer to Reality

AI smart wheelchairs promise autonomy, but cost and reliability remain hurdles.

@ai6yr I'll have to read this, but my initial reaction is... yikes. Then I start wondering if the developers of this are wheelchair users themselves or just technologists trying to push technology into places that can make money... I'm such a cynic. :-(
@poleguy I do believe the second.
@ai6yr @poleguy It's just another "disability dongle", like sign language gloves. Somebody imagines that people with disabilities need something they dreamed up, without ever consulting with the actual people to see if solves any actual problem.
@sbourne @ai6yr @poleguy MARKETEERS !

“Sign language gloves” seems like a major investment

Might cost (bring in) billions of dollars to do it right

I bet #deaf people might rather take a vote on just taking the money

But then who gets paid? The developers? Or disabled people?
