While 40 departments will collectively spend $23 billion more next year, another 85 departments will spend $31 billion less in 2026-27.

@kevinbowrin 41% at CRA. Like it's not already an absolute dumpster fire trying to deal with them. 😑
@npt_writes @kevinbowrin We've been trying to warn people - but he made a good speech

@kevinbowrin Oooooowwwww....chh. Rough.

Canada Post is probably like 🤷uh byebye.

@kevinbowrin yeah, wow. I mean, it’s a net cut of $8B, with a lot of redistribution, but what the heck is going to go on at Revenue Canada? Yeeesh.
@kevinbowrin Tourism?? The spending that brings in more money to the economy?
@misty @kevinbowrin fisheries and oceans got big cuts too. I guess we don't need fish stocks and healthy oceans....
@Centretowner @kevinbowrin As a crown corporation, Canada Post is meant to break even. I guess Carney is pulling their entire safety net away and they’re going to have to come up with $2 BILLION in revenue (or service cuts). Wild. #cdnPoli

@samnabi @Centretowner @kevinbowrin No doubt they will be expected to fix their budget issues without expanding services into, say, Postal Banking. We can't have "unfair" competition for big banks that have been abandoning small communities for decades, after all.

Postal banking once made Canada Post profitable — and could again

Canada Post discontinued postal banking nearly 60 years ago. Is it time for postal banking to make a comeback?

@samnabi @Centretowner @kevinbowrin

wait, wut?

NO!

A crown corporation exists to provide a service **for which there is no viable profit motivation.**

If we need or want packages delivered for free, we make a CC to do it. If we need delivery service for a small fee, smaller than the cost + profit margin required by private investment,, we make a CC to do it.

Revenue has nothing to do with it. That's just conservative propaganda.

@Centretowner @kevinbowrin wow, what does a 50% cut to via rail mean for prices? It's already expensive. A 12% cut to CBC? And massive cuts to the climate change department? Why??

@kevinbowrin

They should chop corporate pay-for-play deals, environmental bad ideas favoring exploitation, and other forms of corporate sycophancy.

@kevinbowrin

Time for lots of #NDP non bank representative MPs needed.

The Guv'nor doesnt understand about protecting demand in a society. Our demand. I am shocked that anti climate policies would get worse in Canada.

I didntbthink the CBC would be cut more.

I didn't think there would be talk of wasting mm ore billions on nuclear.

I didn't think human rights would be cut.

@kevinbowrin how is the NDP so unpopular right now? Is there any hope for the left? I'm a Canadian living in the UK. People are fed up with labour and either going far right or left to the greens. Two party system is over for the moment. Canada seems to have gone in the opposite direction.
@kevinbowrin The #CarneyCons almost surpass the Harper Cons on cuts and lawlessness.
@kevinbowrin Maybe to put it in terms that a BoE governor could understand, these cuts are all penny wise, pound foolish.
