@gamingonlinux I wonder how many forks there will be by the end of the month.
@terrywallwork @gamingonlinux I would be surprised if that happens. You are still good to just download it for your OS of choice, for free.
Only if you want to support OpenTTD financially, you can download from Stream/Gog, if you want to, even if this support requires you to pay Atari. It is still a personal choice which way to go.

@gamingonlinux this change is… weird, but also I get that OpenTTD was in a weird spot here too

I only play the version from the website tho so I’m unaffected

@gamingonlinux Looking the reviews on Steam it looks like you are never be able to stop a shit storm once the community has decided they want to start one. Even if it was just a misunderstanding

This seems a bit weird. Are we to believe that the OpenTTD devs just happily chose to put someone else's paywall on the game?

Like, I can imagine why this might be considered a fair an reasonable outcome, but obviously it is not a win for OpenTTD. Its a decision that surely must be the result of implicit pressure. Right?

@gamingonlinux given how this could have gone for openTTD, this does seem like a pretty good arrangement.
@hurt138 @gamingonlinux it sounds like they just have a good level of respect for the original, which is obvious from the love they pour into OpenTTD. They're both excellent games and both worth playing separately
