Goofball catfox from Seattle / Dwamish land.

Totally unhinged. Lost the plot years ago.

Hugs fine. No flirting.

DMs fine. You can ask me for contact info for outside Fedi too.

I build hardware, I code, I have opinions. I also have major chronic illness (lupus, hEDS, buncha other associated lung/thyroid/gut stuff) so I will bitch and moan about those a lot.

In a sane society I would not need these but techbros seem to believe consent is implied now sooo:

The pilot and co-pilot of an Air Canada Express regional jet have been killed after it collided with a fire truck while landing at New York’s LaGuardia airport, in an incident that closed the airport.

The collision also caused serious injuries, with nine people in the hospital. It happened as a firefighting vehicle was responding to a separate incident, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which runs the airport.

The Air Canada Express CRJ-900 plane, operated by its partner Jazz Aviation, was carrying 72 passengers and four crew members, according to an airline statement. The flight originated at Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau international airport, the major airport serving Montreal. Jazz is owned by Chorus Aviation.

My take on LLMs is they have their uses but they make way too many errors to be trusted without verification. An example: the idea that you can replace customer service with LLMs is hilarious yet also shows contempt for the customer.

As for concerns of replacing engineers: I got bad news, or is it good news idk. Vibe coding doesn’t work for anything bigger than a toy or demo. It ends up being a mess that usually needs to be rewritten anyway.

There are harmless uses of course. Sure someone might ask Claude for a sorting algorithm. Big fucking deal as long as a human has checked it. Sorting is a solved problem but with solutions aggregated in tons of code and papers scattered all over.

“But what if the AI makes buggy code???” Ohhh you really didn’t use Linux like 10 years ago, did you? Humans make shitty code constantly. It gets fed into LLMs. Why do you think they produce so much slop? It didn’t just invent slop, it just automated its production. lol

All I’m gonna say about the AI debate is if your instant instinct is to assume someone supports turning the world into slop because they have *gasp* a nuanced take or don’t wanna debate AI shit all the time… and your reaction to that is to be an asshole… you should be replaced by an LLM. Not at your job, just as a person, not because I love LLMs but at least the LLM probably won’t issue verbal abuse. I used to joke that asshole users would be replaced with a small shell script. Now we can do better.
