This is a WILD take, but hear me out: Related UI elements should not appear unrelated

@rakhim When disconnected tabs were released some years ago, I assumed this was an oversight and would get fixed soon. But they've actually doubled down on that decision?? Did Mozilla just forget how tabs work?
@juni @rakhim They haven't forgotten, they just know everything better than anyone else!
@rakhim MacOS/iOS 26 come to my mind also
@rakhim @tess the OG Chrome tabs were absolutely perfect and I don’t understand why UI designers refuse to stick with them
@rakhim wild indeed. please tell me the elements on top aren‘t individual browser tabs… 👀

@rakhim genuinely confused. So the top pic with multiple tabs open is better than the bottom pic with only tab open because the extra tabs in the top pic are shaded darker?

Seriously. I’m genuinely confused

@jonathankoren both pictures are examples of a good design coming from software that is 10+ years old. The “bad” starts with the newer Firefox later in the article.
@rakhim @firefoxwebdevs take notice! (ia there an official Firefox account on masto?)
@wojtek @rakhim @firefoxwebdevs They shut it down, because they preferred to be on commercial platforms.
@soc @rakhim @firefoxwebdevs but they shut down their masto server (AFAIR)? they could still have account on any public server..
@rakhim @tuomas_h YES. Thank you. This one causes me unnecessary anxiety on like a monthly basis. https://mastodon.social/@jeremykanter/116161589677195336
