Glacial Trough

Driving through Öxnadalsheiði on a lovely September day, we were dropping down towards Öxnadalur.

Without a safe stopping place, I looked back behind me for a shot of a view I'd seen many times but never captured before.

Seldalur valley with river Seldalsá flowing through it, in Hörgársveit, northern Iceland.

Gorgeous valley!

@oscarfalcon @mo It's worth the hike (~50min) up to the series of waterfalls to the right of the old landslide. Unfortunately, for photographers, these are always backlit and during August-September you risk a severe overdosing on blueberries/crowberries on the way from the old hostel (just below the point where the photo was taken).
I sometimes ski up there to hunt ptarmigan during the hunting season in late November-December; in the bottom of the valley you're pretty much alone in the world 🤫

I'd love to do that, if I was younger and fitter. I'm afraid that my rheumatoid arthritis simply won't permit it any more, sometimes it takes me days to recover from even light exercise. I often look at places like this, though, and think "Wouldn't it be wonderful..."
@mo one for you @DanielleVossebeld 😊
@Frieke72 I have been a loyal follower of Mo for many many years. 😊 @mo
