Turbulent

The turquoise waters seem dark today. Crossing the road bridge, I look down into the swirling disruption on its way to join the fjord and ultimately the North Atlantic Ocean.

In the distance is the village of Flateyri, a trading post since 1792 and previously a shark-hunting and whaling port.

On our way south through Vestfirðir (Westfjords), stopping at Önundarfjörður in Ísafjarðarbær, north-western #Iceland.

Morning Light

Low southern sunlight strikes the gnarled face of the mountain, throwing shadows.

Ketillaugarfjall, a 668 metre (1102 feet) tall batholith in Sveitarfélagið Hornafjörður, south-eastern Iceland.

No Spring flowers to be seen where I live right now so I'm just dreaming of them while browsing the flower photos I took in Iceland last May. There was an amazing field of wildflowers in front of the cottage we were staying at in Hvalfjörður. I took this photo through the living room window.
