i always thought it weird when i met cis guys who are adamant they absolutely must have kids but are not open to the idea of adoption

because in my view they're just making plans for someone else's body
this has always been my spiciest opinion and guys always debated me fiercely on that
"it has to be a decision made by both people in the couple" sure dude but in the end the decision that matters is that of the person who will carry the child. if they're not up for it then it's not your place to decide

@peachymist my take on that has always been that the man, with all the best intentions of course, has the ability to walk out and leave... whereas for the woman this is never an option. for men having a child is a choice that they can reverse later (it's awful, and many do), but for a woman this choice is irreversible.

that difference means the decision belongs to the woman, not the man.

@dee yeah, pretty much this. not to mention the whole pregnancy thing, it's not "beautiful" and not a walk in the park, it can alter one's body and health in so many levels that this decision has to be very well thought through

@dee @peachymist both parents should consent to (and ideally actively want to be) having a child.

and yeah, forcing or deceiving a pregnancy on someone is worse than forcing or deceiving sperm from someone, but like, both are rape.

@peachymist Well then they arenโ€™t compatible with each other, different life plans
@luana i agree, but i see so many guys trying to force their own plans on their partners. i had first hand experience with that, and god am i glad i got out of that relationship
@peachymist the obsession some people have with genetic bloodlines has always weirded me the fuck out. youre not some 13th century feudal lord who needs a male heir to continue the dynasty. your family can include whoever you want it to. relax
@shrew exactly. let's abolish some bloodlines we have enough already /silly

@peachymist @shrew

Girlsโ€ฆ.itโ€™s cheap faux immortality.
Nothing more.
Nothing less.

If they are Mormon Men: yes they are trying to set up bloodlines as all Male Priests are promised their own Planet/Creation in the next life

@[email protected] we're allegedly having an increasing problem with global overpopulation anyway, some pairs not getting a child is definitely a better solution than whatever the fuck conservative people say about it (I have heard things most sane people probably don't wanna hear โ€‹โ€‹)
@witix very true, it's not like we need new people
@peachymist I once dated a guy who happily confessed on the third date that a while ago he'd decided that he wanted children. It seemed a bit topsy-turvy to me...
