Kevään ensimmäinen näkemäni kurki on palannut! – The first crane I saw this spring has returned!
Kuulin tutun kailotuksen ja kiirehdin katsomaan olivatko tosiaan kurjet palanneet pesimäpaikalleen. Olen jo ihmetellyt milloinkahan ne muuttavat. Kosteikolla pesi viime kesänä kaksi kurkiparia, sovun löytäen pienestä reviiristä. Nyt näkyi vain tämä yksi kurki ja sekin otti siivet alleen. Missähän sen kumppani on? Olivatko eksyneet eri kurkiauroihin kaukaa muuttaessaan? Huomenna pitää käydä tarkistamassa asia. Kevät on ihanaa aikaa! :-)

I heard a familiar call and hurried to see if the cranes had indeed returned to their nesting site. I've already wondered when they will migrate. Last summer, two pairs of cranes nested in the wetland, finding peace in a small territory. Now only this one crane was visible and it took off its wings. Where is bird's partner? Had they gotten lost in different crane flocks while migrating from far away? I'll have to check tomorrow. Spring is a wonderful time! :-)
