Anche un obiettivo "italiano" alla fine è finito nella girandola infernale in cui si è trasformato il Medio Oriente in seguito allo scatenarsi dei raid israelo-americani sull'Iran. Nella serata di ieri un missile ha infatti colpito la base militare italiana a Erbil, nel Kurdistan iracheno. L'evento è stato confermato dal Ministro della Difesa, Guido Crosetto, che attraverso un messaggio comunicato durante una trasmissione televisiva ha dichiarato: "Un missile ha appena colpito la nostra base ad Erbil, non so ancora con che esito. Non ci sono vittime tra il personale italiano". Il ministro ha poi rassicurato poco dopo sulle condizioni del contingente: "Un missile ha colpito la base italiana a Erbil, nessuna vittima, stanno tutti bene".
Sull'accaduto è intervenuto anche il Ministro degli Esteri, Antonio Tajani, definendo l'azione un atto di estrema gravità che richiede approfondimenti immediati prima di una risposta diplomatica o militare formale. "Dobbiamo valutare bene quello che è accaduto, successivamente decideremo i passi da compiere. Certamente è un attacco inaccettabile, però prima di dire chi è il responsabile dobbiamo fare un accertamento molto chiaro", ha affermato Tajani, mantenendo una linea di prudenza sull'attribuzione della responsabilità diretta pur nella condanna del gesto. "Ferma condanna per l'attacco che ha subito la base italiana di Erbil. Ho appena parlato con l'Ambasciatore d'Italia in Iraq. Per fortuna i nostri militari stanno tutti bene e sono al sicuro nel bunker. A loro esprimo solidarietà e gratitudine per il quotidiano servizio alla Patria", quanto ha poi aggiunto su X il vicepremier e ministro degli Esteri.

Yesterday evening, a missile struck the Italian military base in Erbil, in Iraqi Kurdistan. The event was confirmed by Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, who, through a message communicated during a television broadcast, stated: “A missile just struck our base in Erbil, I don’t yet know with what outcome. There are no casualties among the Italian personnel.” The minister then reassured shortly afterward about the condition of the contingent: “A missile hit the Italian base in Erbil, no victims, they are all fine.”
The Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, also intervened on the matter, defining the action as an act of extreme gravity that requires immediate investigations before a formal diplomatic or military response. “We must carefully evaluate what happened, subsequently we will decide what steps to take. Certainly, it is an unacceptable attack, but before saying who is responsible, we must carry out a very clear investigation,” Tajani said, maintaining a cautious line on attributing direct responsibility despite condemning the act. “Firm condemnation of the attack that the Italian base in Erbil suffered. I just spoke with the Italian Ambassador to Iraq. Fortunately, our soldiers are all fine and are safe in the bunker. I express solidarity and gratitude to them for their daily service to the Fatherland,” he then added on X, the vice-premier and Foreign Minister.
