It's been a week or more since my last run, taking the wee Miss MoneyPenny to the vet and this working malarkey put a spanner in my running plans. So there was some walking which I didn't mind as I had this view of the Med while looking at this sanatorium, not a bad place to come and to be cured.

@woollypigs Ah ha, good to see you around,.good to hear that Miss Moneypenny is on the mend.
The run route looks a great one. That sanatorium looks oddly familiar - I wonder if it was in a film
@robchapman yes a good route. The sanatorium is very much like others and monetaries I've seen. Copy and paste design ;)

@woollypigs yes I think you're right, it's definitely a sort of cookie cutter design. That's probably why it seems familiar even though it isn't.

Anyway, how have you been?

@robchapman as grand as one can be while counting down to the day we are glowing the the dark...

This last week set my marathon training back, I was hoping that I could get through one 16 week session before my birthday (I now need to cram it into 14 weeks). Before I start the training or the Dramathon in October.

Now the question is will it be possible to do the run with a gasmask and bio suit on?

Anywhooo how's life in the island and more importantly how is the wee fur ball?

@woollypigs last thing first, Yazz is now a lap cat, as for the boy (Bruno) he took him self to bed an hour ago.

Me, I'm ok, started getting into a new story I'm writing, creating some new characters and a new fictional town is helping me to not look at the mess that's not that far away.

Running wise, I hit 400km on Friday, so far this year - taking some extra rest, so next runs Tuesday, which has meant a weekend writing, while trying not to look at the news.

@woollypigs I wouldn't stress too much about losing some time on your training, life does get in the way, and you do lose time...Just build up slowly and steady, and tweak your running plan where you need to
@robchapman I think the 16 week plan is for someone who haven't done anything beforehand. And since I'm not going for a PB, more get around the trail, I think I'm ok, just need to get miles on my feet
@woollypigs I think you'll be alright, personally. You're not a stranger to running, or to running distance, or significant elevation, it is just a matter of steadily increasing your ability to get to up to 42KM without any issues, except for a bit of DOMS occasionally, and when you do run it, just remember whisky at the end 😅
@robchapman yeah I'm not too worried. I know what my body needs and what works to eat from my cycling days. And many of my under 10k runs got about the same elevation as the dramathon. Also the terrain I run on mostly are much rougher that the dramathon. The two big issues I got is time limit, never run an event before, and other people who has the audacity to be out in public at the same time as me. The last handful of runs I've seen 2-3 hikers, 1 runner and a few cyclist, this will have about 500 other on the same trail. Also I have to be running naked, erm without a dog I mean, that's going to be weird.

@woollypigs

What's the cut time?
I am told that people will help you, motivate you during the event, as for the dog thing..that's something you will need to start to get used to now. which might mean going out twice a day, though I am sure when the event comes around you can pretend the nearest person to you is the dog (just don't tell them that 😂 )

@robchapman not sure about the cut off time, guestimate is 8 hours. Now you got me wondering how to clip a lead on their running back pack without them noticing and what treats they would like, a bit of smelly cheese never goes wrong, right?
@woollypigs I looked at the results for last year's Dramathon, the last person to finish came in at 7hrs 13 mins, so either 7 1/2 - 8 hrs was the cut time, so I think it'll likely be the same.
I have to say that I would be confident of completing a marathon now on just my half marathon running in 8hrs, so I really think you got it, so all you have to do is get past the no dog with you, maybe holding the top part of a lead, or clip onto the person Infront and dangle cheese in front of them 🤣
@robchapman I've run a half marathon with 200m more up than the dramathon, in 3 hours 45m. This also included 40+ stiles and gates, which all had to be cleared by me and Paddy and checked before we jumped over, didn't want to land on livestock. Along with a few fields with cows in, that needed to be navigated around. I think I just need to find a route that is similar and have a go at it. A bit like when I just jumped on my bike and cycled 120miles, fully load for touring, over night after only have had done 30-35miles in one go before ;) best of all at the dramathon I can numb the pain with a nice bottle of Cardhu afterwards, if I don't fall asleep first LOL
