I hope that the US will get out from under the control of billionaire criminals (and the pathologically power hungry) and, in the future, will at least *try* to do some good. In the meantime, I’d welcome just less evil. US policy not only hurts Europe, the Middle East, everywhere, it hurts the US. And while Trump is the idiot-in-chief, very little of this would be happening without Republican support. We have so much housecleaning to do.

I don’t think most people are shits, but we as a species seem to be susceptible to greed, it tends to warp our perceptions putting us in a self destructive state for the whole because we stop caring about others outside our immediate tribal sphere. And notice, the more wealth is involved, the smaller the perceived tribe becomes. 🤔

1. I've heard a hypothesis that the moment RUS forces were repelled from the outskirts of Kyiv, US realized that Russia is much less of a threat (to the parts of Europe US cares about) than US thought. So the US can focus on its biggest threat: China.

2. Venezuela and Iran fit a pattern: US is targeting China's allies, particularly those that could provide China with oil during wartime.

3. The internal unrest in Iran appeared like a once-in-a-century opportunity.

Is the US war in Iran bad for Europe? In the short term, yes.

However, when (if :/ )the missiles stop flying across the gulf, oil prices will recover much quicker than Iran's infrastructure.

Now, will the devastation of Iran weaken China enough for US to not worry about it so much and be able to support Europe more?
Idk, probably not.

But "Europe needs to get its shit together" is something we've already known.

American commercial involvement in Russia's energy sector would only be logical if American companies could sell that energy to customers... which, surprise surprise, are Europeans.

US companies get access to Russian energy assets, and Europe becomes the captive market for that energy, intermediated by American capital. Europe would end up paying for its own geopolitical subordination, twice: first to Washington, then to Moscow, with the profits going to the same investment class.

I have to hand it to the US, it's a masterful gambit

@Huntn00 @jmaris I tend to not use labels as criminals, not on moral grounds but because, as we've seen with international law, calling someone a criminal is pretty meaningless unless there's someone willing and able to bring punishment to fit the crime.

Do I hope to see American leaders tried for warcrimes? Ya. Do I think it'll happen? Probably not
