I have cancelled a trip to New-York when Trump started his tarrifs none sense.
I am not planning to travel to the U.S. for the next few years.
@alex_p_roe @Strandjunker And not visibly* queer or leftist.

No, it is not, but let's look at the record here:
1934 Italy (Mussolini)
2018 Russia (Putin)
2022 Qatar
2026 USA (Trump)
2034 Saudi Arabia
So that's 5 out of 25 World Cups hosted in countries with dubious human right's records, including how they treat immigrants and visitors.
Yeah, I can't get too worked up about which country's bid for sports-washing FIFA goes with. I love the sport, but I'm so over FIFA and all the politics around hosting the World Cup that I can't see myself traveling to any World Cup anywhere.
(Full disclosure, I did go to one Women's World Cup match in 2003 when the USA Women were playing Canada for 3rd place, and it was amazing to see Mia Hamm playing and all the girls in the stands who were so inspired by her. Literally every time she touched the ball, a chorus of young girls near us would should "MIA MIA MIA MIA" until a few MIAs after the ball left her foot. She served up a corner kick that was headed in for USA's 2nd goal, which was the game winner, and I thought several people around me might have heart attacks. And I'm honestly not sure if I would have stayed home had I known then what I know now about FIFA.)
It's up to the players! I'm heartbroken for them. this event is a once in 4 yr opportunity to highlight their goods, skills, love of the beautiful game. Piggy is the plague that ruins the party.
As a lover of footie, I am crushed to say I am boycotting. But that is my personal choice. I'm done with the corruption of FIFA and of Donald's malignant regime!
@individual8 @Strandjunker That was it for me. Didn't watch it then, and haven't watched any world cup games since.
FIFA MAFIA.
Fifa is choosing countries exactly because of those attributes.
