I'm a retired programmer who spends way too much time with #ttrpgs, #puns, and occasional Opinions. These days, that includes Opinions about politics that threaten people I care about.

Girl gets to meet her favorite basketball player and hands him some drawings she made…

So wholesome. He didn’t even have to look, once she presented the drawings it was a wrap… Hug time

I'd never heard of those. The very thought is frightening. But if they're rare, the results seem to imply they work?

Oh, my, that had me laughing, too! What a change after just a few years!

What’s at stake in the fight against age verification is not just a single bill in a single state. It’s about whether “protecting children” becomes a legal pretext for embedding government control online that reinforces specific moral and religious worldviews. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2026/03/rep-finke-was-right-age-gating-isnt-about-kids-its-about-control
Rep. Finke Was Right: Age-Gating Isn’t About Kids, It’s About Control

What’s at stake is whether “protecting children” becomes a legal pretext for embedding government control over the internet to enforce specific moral and religious judgments—judgments that deny marginalized people access to speech, community, history, and truth—into law.

I like this take on what Social Democracy is. If only we could figure out a way to teach those who hate the different how to listen to it.

We have an older Mac, used by someone who seriously dislikes any UI changes. As a result, they're still using a machine that can't be updated. At this point, most browser-based functions refuse to run (at least without big warning banners) and most new software can't be installed.

More like 'refuses to work'.
