King of TorsAs #Mozilla is becoming increasingly unpopular with #fediverse types (and do correct me if I'm wrong about that), does that also mean #Tor is going to fall with #Firefox?
soaproot@kingtor I'm not sure I understand the question, but as for the first part of your post the obvious answer is a Frefox fork like LibreWolf or WaterFox. On Android I'm using a fork called Fennec.
@soaproot Yeah, I wish I could remember who it was so I could direct the question to them, but I saw a post that was very alarmed about the new CEO of Mozilla being an alarming choice and that even forks couldn't be trusted anymore because they would eventually have no choice but to rely on Mozilla's updates. And as far as I can tell, Tor is a fork of Firefox. Anyway, sounds from your reply and another this is pearl-clutching more than legit concern. :/
@kingtor The pearls are being clutched for sure and I wouldn't say over nothing but perhaps I have more faith in the ability of the forks to disable/remove the stuff they consider bad. Hard to predict the future, however.

As there seems to have been recent confusion about this, just a quick "official" toot to then pin: we haven't and won't support "generative AI" related stuff in LibreWolf. If you see some features like that (like Perplexity search recently, or the link preview feature now) it is solely because it "slipped through". As soon as we become aware of something like this / it gets reported to us, we will remove/disable it ASAP.
