fwiw, imo,

is great, but so are many other distros, it all depends on one's hands-on or hands-off preference. my tower runs two instances of arch kde plasma [different installation modes], one of kdelinux, with thoughts of adding SparkyLinux Testing kde plasma in coming weeks. my lappy now runs said Sparky. on both pooters til recently i ran

kinoite, but i recently made a values decision to abandon fedora coz 1. merkan, & 2. they seem to be letting gen-ai in, to both of which things i vehemently morally object. other peeps ofc will make very different choices. good luck.

woot 💃🥳🎉

tower's /dev/sdc now, since this morning... pic.

last year i initially plonked Kalpa on this SSD, then replaced it with KDELinux, then Kinoite. i recently made a moral decision to remove

from all my pooters, coz merkan [fuck trump!], & also apparently embracing the scourge of gen-ai, ugh.

/dev/sda, tower's original 2015 SSD, still has my 6.5 y/o ArchLinux on it, but for the past six or twelve months the bugger has been exasperating me with a spate of random system freezes that even defeat #REISUB, & so far has also defeated all my troubleshooting efforts. i'm frankly totes over it, & am now seriously considering possibly replacing it.

/dev/sdb is potentially gonna get another [or a replacement?] Arch, &/or SparkyTesting.

sadly though, for some of the now spare partitions across these three SSDs, i've been making numerous attempts over the last several days & nights to install various penguins that keep failing at the final stages of their installations, which is quite ... disappointing 🥺

@keshara yep, WPs still good here in F, yay. fwiw, in case you've not heard of it, in Nightly i also have WPs! i use the clever #firefoxsecondsidebar project ... it produces the most powerful flexible sidebar of all, better than olde Opera Presto, current Vivaldi, Edge, Floorp, Zen when it still had them... sadly i begin to fear the once very active project might be abandoned [though tbc]. btw yes i love VTs, for many years... could never go back to horiz.

#Fedora #Rawhide . if i get a reasonably high correlation, i then be gonna install such pkgs in Sid or Rawhide #Distroboxes, & uninstall them from AUR.

why?

1. tis getting pretty tiring with all the now-sadly-frequent #DDoS attacks on the poor ol' AUR
2. though i am rigorous in inspecting the #PKGBUILD for each prospective pkg before proceeding to install from AUR, i must admit i am largely pathetic in bothering to do #diffs of them before each subsequent update
3. as a congenitally depressed #misanthropist who views the sour state of this wretched rock around her with its apparently nonstop rise in malicious arseholery & shitfuckery, i pessimistically expect increasing probability of AUR becoming an attack vector, so in such gloomy scenario i judge sticking to official #repos likely to be a saner choice for me given my #2

my statement

it is not available in #Friendica !!!!! wtaf

is now recognised to be incorrect. in fact it is available & works fine in Friendica, so there is actually no problem here to solve.

the error was inadvertently mine... in the particular :firefoxnightly: profile i was using then, i have the mostly-wonderful Firefox Second Sidebar project installed. unfortunately, as i later discovered during my investigation, its own context-menu mods seem to clobber the new native split options, hence it did not show up. if instead using any profile without FF2nd SB, then open link in split view shows up, & works, just fine, in Friendica*.

* NB: none of the new SplitView TabSplit options work at all, if the tab is Pinned, alas. hopefully FF Devs will overcome this limitation soonish 🤞 🤞 🤞

i do exasperate myself sometimes with my changing sensibilities wrt my preferred #font. i keep toggling twixt #RobotoCondensed, and #NimbusSansNarrow . For the past several weeks i'd set it to the latter, but after a few [or several?] days of dissatisfaction with it, i've now toggled back to the former... yet again. based on history it seems inevitable that in another coupla months i'll likely jump back again.

otoh in #Plasma itself, i do seem reasonably settled with #NotoSansExtraCondensed -- this seems generally to survive much longer before i feel the urge to change it, compared to in my browser.
