the g in gobject stands for glib, and the g in glib stands for gtk, and the g in gtk stands for gimp, however the g in gimp stands for gnu, so really the g in glib stands for gnu, but you shouldn't confuse it with gnulib, which is developed by the gnu project, who shouldn't be confused as the developers of glib, which is the gnome project, in which the g also stands for gnu

For another example, did you know that “HURD” is a *pair* of mutually recursive acronyms? It's “HIRD of Unix-Replacing Daemons”, and “HIRD” is “HURD of Interfaces Representing Depth”.

Why or how I memorized this, I have absolutely no idea.

@argv_minus_one @hailey Stallman (sorry) comes from a culture of such things, going back at least to the 70s. There once was an editor on the Lisp Machine called EINE (EINE Is Not Emacs); it was succeeded by ZWEI (ZWEI Was EINE Initially), and by then tte joke was already quite hoary.
