We associate #trolling with #edgelord #bigotry

But a #troll can do good

Example:

"#Egypt and #Iran are calling on #football #soccer’s governing body to intervene in the #LGBT #Pride celebration planned to coincide with their group stage match in #Seattle at the 2026 #WorldCup"

Egypt is playing Iran during Seattle Pride Week

And local organizers designated it a Pride Match

🤭

Hey Egypt, Hey Iran: 🖕

There is nothing wrong with #LGBTQIA #LGBTQ

@benroyce Gawd I hope they don't end up caving in to the inevitable govt. pressure.

The real world is on your side, Seattle Pride!

@tectonic @benroyce Both countries' governments can be told to fuck off, and to withdraw from the game if they don't like it.

If the Seattle government cancels permits for Pride and forces it underground, FIFA should expect the World Cup to be hammered by protesters. Every effort should be made in such an event to punish the Seattle government financially.

Streets in shopping districts could be blocked by an "Alternative Pride Parade" with participants asked to boycott not support medium and large businesses on those streets.

Before Trump this would have been an open and shut First Amendment issue, now we must be ready with direct action.

@benroyce
Be the troll you want to see in the world.

@dzwiedziu

it's not even a joke

"polite society" got us into this mess: deferring to #bigotry and #ignorance because "respect"

what does respecting disrespect get us in #society, darling polite people?

if we're going to clean up this overflowing toilet in the world of #rightWing #hate, we have to get dirty

and, while we do that, we can expect "polite society" to look down their nose at us because they do not sanction our methods

while we clean up the problem they helped make

what a world

The paradox of tolerance is an interesting philosophical debate.

"Unlimited tolerance must lead to the disappearance of tolerance. If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them. [...] We should therefore claim, in the name of tolerance, the right not to tolerate the intolerant."
Karl R. Popper

@VulcanTourist
Yes.
At a societal level:

The paradox of tolerance.
Absolute tolerance leads to intolerance.

The paradox of democracy.
Absolute democracy leads to tyranny.

The paradox of freedom.
Absolute freedom leads to slavery.

The paradox of free speech.
Absolute free speech leads to a cacophony of BS where no reasonable opinion is noticed & only outrage is promoted. {See twitter).

The common thread is absolutism.

@JustRobForNow

You know the story, that tolerance is not a right that can be demanded at any time, but rather a mutual agreement that, if broken by one side, can no longer be demanded by that side?

@benroyce I hope FIFA will tell them to stfu, but they won't. We're well aware of how corrupt FIFA is, and they won't upset the dictator of a nation for fear of not being paid.🤬
