@Codeberg it is so sad to see that all the open-source forges are struggling against bad actors with much larger resources and greedy companies with no respect for the services they crawl... sourcehut and codeberg are the future of open source communities in my opinion! we need to find some real solutions to these problems, as the people doing the attack have microsoft level of funding and no care for the users.

@MeiLin @Codeberg Another possibility is security bots run by "researchers" looking for an exploit to... well... exploit, either with malicious code or to demand a bug bounty payout.

One of my mates has more problems with those than LLM scrapers, and those bots are just as badly behaved, too.

Good luck! In the long run, there is only one serious defense against DDoS and other attacks: federation. Iā€™m really looking forward to @forgejo
supporting federation for repository forks and pull requests.
