Who will be playing this year's Advent of Code?

If so, what will be your fighter?

Last year, I thought, I would have learned enough #Python by now, but I didn't.

So, it will be #Perl again.

Advent of Code 2025

@mina I wanna practice more on Django. Because effectively, customers wants to **see** the product with some pretty interesting visual effects or something. Not just some small script. My thought process is to visualise the problem/puzzle with some image or something, an input puzzle text file, and show the result. Aiming for clarity than speed at this point
@qoyyuum @mina That sounds amazing!

@mina Me me me!

I already kind of decided to skip this year but then with the new announcement of there being less puzzles which inspired me to do it once again.

I'm continuing my Python + educational materials approach this year.

#AdventOfCode #Python

@mina Either Pascal or Fortran (77 or 90 depending on if I need recursion or not!) I may also decide to do it on a z80 under CP/M, just to be completely perverse. That would probably decide me for Pascal, as Turbo Pascal under CP/M is rather good.

#RetroComputing #z80 #cpm

@psychotimmy @mina
Neat!

I'm also going for #TurboPascal this year, but more likely on my #Xi8088 (and possibly on the 486 if I need EMS/XMS to solve a puzzle).

@mina still tempted to try doing the whole thing in Uiua. Last two AoCs I did the first few in it, then went back to Julia (and Rust if I had time for 2 solutions).

Maybe even Chapel this time?
Or something more exotic?

@mina I did last year with #Kotlin and enjoyed it a lot. I was planning on giving rust a try, but since I didn't have any time to look into it and forgot about 90% of what I learned last year, it'll be Kotlin again.

@mina

I'll almost certainly be using Python again. Every year I tell myself that maybe this will be the year I use Ruby or Lisp or something, but I just get more done in Python.

@mina Some other year I might shoot for a relatively-new-to-me programming language but I don't think I have the brain space for it currently so I'll fall back to a familiar friend (Python).
@mina I'm in again! Rust, 'cos I like it, and AoC stretches me more than most of the coding I do. (Maybe some PostScript too.)

@mina I always use #JuliaLang because it's what I know and I find it fun to use.

But eventually I'll get around to doing it in Scratch...

@mina I usually code in Perl or Typescript, so I do my #adventofcode in Dart
@mina I will use Raku this year, has been my goto language for few months now 🦋
@mina my Last piece of Code this year, that I was needed to Touch was ..... Pascal
@mina I'm looking forward to learning some next-level #perl trick from you ;) I will do at least one day in either verilog or vhdl, but otherwise perl, in a mix of 5 and 6.
