We need a law in australia that states that if an employee's duties include collecting your data, that employee must be trained on privacy issues related to that data. How and where it's stored, whether third parties have access, how long it will be stored, what it will be used for, etc.

It should be illegal to have en employee in your organisation who is collecting personal data and cannot correctly answer a couple of questions a layperson might ask. Eg. Where is it stored and who can see it? It's stored on a local hard drive, staff who work on this site can see it.
