One time I was in Rome and Todd came with me and he went up to the balcony to talk to the Pope โcause theyโve known each other forever and the guy next to me said โhey whoโs that guy on the balcony with Todd?โ
I think I should have stuck with just a static website ๐
Hope this reply works correctly.
@todd @briankrebs
OH
MY
GOD
TODD IS REAL
More of a passion project.
Had intended to create a super lightweight ActivityPub implementation and incorporate IndieWeb principles, such as POSSE.
Still working out some details, though.
Well yes, technically, I did work on it at home ๐ฉ
And as a result I should probably reevaluate my life choices for even considering tackling this project ๐
@jt_rebelo @briankrebs Does ActivityPub protocols allow for instances to report any number of followers they might want without any kind of validation? It sounds like the most obvious situation.
Reminds me of when I made a website to track stats on an anime website and there was a user who watched millions of hours. When I went to check what happened, they just added a single anime and marked it as rewatched millions of times.
I'm sure they're trolling, but it could be a failed attempt at messing with crawlers, actually: https://ultracrepidarian.mysteriar.ch/api/v2/instance
That's my instance. If you look at monthly active users, you'll see some absurdly high number; the correct number is 1 because I'm the only user here.
This is an anti-spam feature GoToSocial has built-in.
Yikes! ๐ฑ
Thanks for pointing that out, Brian.
Correcting shortly.
After getting a screenshot of that website first ๐
And it's 'followed' AND 'following'!
A frog, duh
Donald will be so p*ssed that Todd has more followers then he has. ๐
