I think #SimpleX chat is more private/anonymous than deltachat bc simplex profiles can have one time invites whereas deltachat profiles have static invites until you delete the profile: meaning anywhere you send that invite to can be corroborated with anywhere else you share the invite either by a compromised contact or the contact themselves.

Another problem with static invites is they can be shared without your consent leading to invite flood harassment, simplex has optional static invites for profiles if you need them but they can be rotated without losing your contacts and you can use static and one time invites at the same time

Also simplex has quantum resistant encryption deltachat doesn't. Quantum is a problem now bc of the store now decrypt later attack

Also simplex supports tor integration in the app allowing you to connect to a tor proxy i dont think deltachat does that

Simplex of course has a lot of the same advantages as #deltachat open source end to end encryption, decentralised relay server model, no account passwords (client side passwords optional)

What makes quantum computers SO powerful?

@ambiguous_yelp @jowek @_elena 1.

1. I'm glad to hear that you can change deltachat profile addresses, this seems plausible but dont contacts you already have continue to use the address they connected to you on, with simplex the invite link isnt tied to your id so after contacts connect there is no way to corroborate different connected contacts even if those contacts have been compromised

2. its much easier to use tor for most people when its supported with gui options, on android its as simple as turning on orbot then connecting to orbot in simplex settings

and whatever 100% anonymity means, although I dont support misleading privacy claims simplex does have the right to brag. From the several similar options I have considered session threema briar cwtch deltachat matrix etc: it is the gold standard for private decentralized messaging

@ambiguous_yelp @jowek @_elena 1.

@Milk31 @jowek @_elena

Its easy for people with technical skill to underestimate how much learning went into writing that one line, most people just want their software to work with buttons not to have to write in config files, its ok to have the option, config files are easier to implement than settings guis. But the eventual goal should be to make settings as accessible to as many different types of people as possible

@Milk31 @jowek @_elena

Yes I'm sure many children could do it thats not the point, writing config or typing commands to get basic app functionality to work is an adoption friction point, I LIKE figuring that stuff out and its a friction point for me

The more concerning thing to me is you seem to believe that certain people dont deserve privacy owing to their intelligence

@Milk31 @jowek @_elena

Ok then if you dont think that privacy is an intelligence based privilege please don't say that gui options for tor configuration are for idiots

@Milk31 @jowek @_elena

You should care about accessibility in UX design because inclusion helps the whole software ecosystem, the more people we can bring in to contribute in one way or another the stronger our community gets in various ways both direct and indirect tangible and intangible.

Private messengers are more private and anonymous the more people use them, don't you want as many people as possible to be using private messengers and to be using them to their fullest capabilities such as connecting through tor or i2p or something like that

#accessibility #antiableism #UX #privacy #tor #i2p

@Milk31 @jowek @_elena

1. It is easier for most people to use tor proxies when the app directly supports it and all you have to do is click a button, maybe for you setting up system wide tor and doing app traffic routing is easy, I'm sure it is when you get the hang of it but you're ignoring the experience of the vast majority of computer users.

Could most people learn how to set up tor manually: perhaps. Is that a realistic thing to expect everyone to do when simplex proves that burden can be shifted to developers.

Having tor configuration done through the gui of an app makes it more accessible to more people. Why would you not want tor to be easier to use for more people.

2. Which flag are you accusing me of displaying emptily
