#train We're on a Danish DSB #IC3 train to Germany. Probably for the last, or at least one of the last, times.
While I'm sure the newer trains will be adequate. I'll also certainly miss the feeling of luxury of the current ones. With the quiet running, and spacious and warm interior the IC3 trains are just a pleasure to travel on.
On Europe's local-less-busy-routes train future now: a battery powered Stadler Flirt (Nordbahn, top of Germany).
It's.. just a nice spacious quiet practical boring commuter train. Has a spacious toilet with well designed diaper changing table.
And clean, maintained even! (looking at you GoCollective)

The more I look at it the more I realize the interior of this battery Flirt #train is really pleasing.

First for me: train-replacement-foot-bridge at the Schleibrücke. Fun!
We're in #Kiel. As people on Mastodon recommended we just visited the aquarium. I liked how they have displays with local (north-atlantic, waddensea) sea-life.
Nearby we stumbled upon the "Old Botanical Garden" while no-one recommended it the place is definitely a highlight. A lot of variety in somewhat older trees set in romantic landscaping overrun with squirrels. Also saw a black squirrel 🐿️ ✅. I collected some Giant Sequoia & Japanese maple seeds :-)
Hmm. This kebab place in Kiel has "planted meat".
It's when the cows are solidly secured in the ground? In preparation of legislation a lot of meat industry supported MEP voted for? 🤔
The #Kiel SEALEVEL museum is excellent. It has a fun ball-pit for the toddler and nice displays on physical, chemical, biological and geological processes in the ocean. Tbh. It's a bit of a #GEOMAR themed thingy. But that's fine.
I liked the combination of physical objects (manganese globes, research equipment like a deepsea seismometer) and purpose built model scale displays.
Assholes to the right, decent members of society to the left. Good to see that on this Saturday in #Kiel the non-fascists protesting the handful of afd dicks royally outnumber them.
Somewhat related: are all city-dwelling gulls fascists? They're loud, aggressive, shit on everything and steal food from children & the homeless.

We took another battery #trains to Schleswig and then the #DSB #Eurocity (old style, no #Talgo today) to Kolding.
No delays, but the Eurocity was, as so often, ridiculously overloaded. Every corridor had people sitting in it (with luggage) and taking care of bored children became a group project for all (un)willing passengers..
I don't see how the new trains will fix this. Maybe by scaring even more people away from DK to DE #CrossBorderRail?
