@itsfoss made me learn new things
That's always great
@itsfoss
Using Linux kept me from all the drama surrounding windows, helped me use cheap hardware and made me able to help others in their financial struggle. Linux is a huge weapon against the individual impact of global crises.
@itsfoss It has made my daily life using my computers more enjoyable - at home, at work, and for the studies. It has also added several extra hours of battery life. I'm one of the few going through a full day without having to plug in - and I still have plenty left.
@itsfoss Linux saved me money, nerves and time. I could finally play games that require ubisoft connect in offline Mode, which was NOT possible on Windows. I got one step further to personal independence from #bigtech.
I love Linux!
@itsfoss
Linux lets me be free and allows me to implement my ideas as I want.
@itsfoss I have a Microsoft tablet 1796. It passed all tests for Windows 11 except for the CPU. I installed Zorin on it and it works like a charm. Even the stylus works.

@itsfoss Ubuntu runs on the server where I host my website.

But also I have a very old laptop that still had Windows XP on it. It wouldn't even display websites any more. I installed Zorin for 32bit and while it's still too old for most modern software I can surf the web again. It was meant to be a test drive of Zorin but given the age of the device that might be a bit unfair.

@itsfoss it kept me from Microsoft trying to shove Copilot onto every part of my system.

@itsfoss

In last yearS (24 of them), #Linux #distros have saved me from many annoying #problems and allowed me to use my #computer for a looooong time before switching to another one

@itsfoss

This year, using Linux helped me get my LPI Essentials certification.

@itsfoss Kept me from going insane ^^
@lorax @itsfoss TBH I can't claim that it has kept me from going insane due to prior experience on the fringes of that field but having Porteus on my laptop has defo facilitated a daily 'cleanse' from having to use MS crap all day for work.
@itsfoss It's made computing fun again. Now that I'm no longer working in the industry, my stress levels have dropped drastically. Knowing others who have started their transition into the Linux world has helped too. We all share useful and cool stuff to make our experiences even more interesting. I no longer have a use for a M$ product. And even if I do, I just fire up a VM.
@mrgrumpymonkey Yep, dealing with Windows can be very stressful! Thanks for sharing. 😃

@itsfoss didnt have to discard of an old pokey computer that doesnt eat energy like the new ones do. It’s now a light weight server and I’m already considering to build my own little home universe into it for hosting personal intranet now.

Essentially it’s building up my confidence to just set up these things for myself. And save a good amount of money not paying for subscriptions on all sorts of services half assing the work.

@itsfoss it lets me continue to use my trusty old thinkpad with a proper keyboard.
@thetrond75 @itsfoss I'm trying to buy a new thinkpad right now. Must have the physical mouse buttons. I get very angry when using most other laptops.
@mike805 @itsfoss Yeah, my hands are always searching for the trackpoint on laptops from other brands. I've disabled the trackpad entirely in the bios because of it.
@itsfoss It has helped me keep my 15 year old desktop PC going. The PC ran W10, and I had created a second partition on it and installed Mint. Two months later, something went wrong and the Windows partition became locked, I could no longer get Windows to boot up because the partition was now read-only. But the Linux partition worked fine, so I was able to get all my data off of the Windows partition, and can still run the PC in a limited fashion.
@itsfoss
Switched back to linux this year, and it allowed me to feel in control again.

@itsfoss

It helped me with legacy support for some old software...oh wait that's windows

@CatNamedYuGi I see what you did there. 👀
@itsfoss Its helped me learn the fundamentals of computers and philosophy such as the Unix philosophy and principle of least privilege.
@itsfoss I don't worry that my system won't work…peace of mind

@itsfoss its been a reliable and stable OS.

Tbh there aint a lot to say. It quietly does it's job.

@bwahfox Yep, that is the charm of Linux!

@itsfoss
Introduced me to so many new and interesting things for me! 🥰

I guess I would have not discovered #VivaldiBrowser without it, and I would have probably been an #avid #gamer or a guy who thought he knew much, when he actually doesn't.
Now, I at least know how much I don't, and I'm interested in more advanced things I would have not known about in #MSWindows!

@itsfoss finally, i can do whatever i want
