Every small and big tech CEO and community manager has to make this choice. It's easier for some.

#Framework #MNT

(To be very clear, I tagged MNT since they are part of the conversation, but on the "no nazis" side)
@silvermoon82 I don't get why it's so hard for some people to understand that including people who exclude others means that you are tacitly *also* excluding those others.

@StarkRG
I think it's easier when you're the local in-group and never feel threatened for who you are.

100%, the Framework dude has never paused outside a public bathroom because there were fratbro looking guys nearby and he worried they would follow him in and rough him up or murder him for looking a little gay.

That sort of thing doesn't happen to him, so why would anybody ever feel unsafe?

@silvermoon82 In other words, they have an underdeveloped sense of empathy and/or theory of mind.
@StarkRG
Yeah, exactly.
It's possible to be empathetic when you live on easy mode, but it takes an effort. It's a skill that develops with use.
@silvermoon82 The argument always mentions freedom of speech, but it's also well within the platform owner's freedom of speech to choose not to host certain content, and that making that choice doesn't stifle anyone else's freedom of speech.
@silvermoon82 That word gets thrown around far too easily today. N*zi does not mean someone who doesn't share your world view, policy or doesn't immediately politicize every business decision to your approval. Some people just wanna run a business.
@silvermoon82 CEO hopping for money? Bezos, Musk are rich nazi, so they wanna get rich too?
@silvermoon82 mnt too? 😱
@jailandrade
Oh, no! MNT are the good guys who don't invite Nazis into their tent!
@silvermoon82 good, for a moment I feel that there was not hope anymore
@jailandrade
There's still a few on the good side, MNT was the only "no Nazis" brand I could recall when I posted this morning.

@silvermoon82

There's only one decision!

Everyone else is complicit, even if they just didn't want to be fucking assholes and followers.

@silvermoon82 _Did you mean_: Nazi bar
@silvermoon82 why would I share my skills with someone who wants me and my whole family dead? (retroical q)
@silvermoon82 somehow "a handful of nazis" is always more people than "everyone who doesn't want to be in the Big Tent with the nazis". it's almost like they just prefer nazis
@silvermoon82 i remember when the mere possibility that an org was sharing space with nazis used to be the stuff of swift apologies and movements to the contrary. now they just say "well, we all have to get along"
@silvermoon82 not tons of true nazis. (See wikioedia for the definition)
Lots of ignorant/blind people.
Just have clear rules about what is tolerated in your community.
And apply them.
@silvermoon82 my big tent explicitly exists to unite everyone who hates Nazis.
@silvermoon82 I will just hope you're tagging MNT as a counter to framework here
@djm62 @silvermoon82 No need to hope, I think, at least going by @mntmn 's timeline...
@djm62
Yes! They continue to push the No Nazis button.

@silvermoon82

This test of a leader's moral clarity shows whether they see or they do nazi.

@silvermoon82

Nazi inside, nazi inside, every single one of us does nazi inside! 😈 🎵

The real nazi is the nazi you do nazi:

Why MAGA is a Futile Quest and Fighting Nazis is a Sham

@silvermoon82 Trying to form a Discord server at this point for a hobby, I've already made the decision. You are straight out the door if you do this shit, I don't care if you've been here for ages, your gone straight away. Too many bigots, we deserve much better.
