Itโs pretty wild when you reflect on an entire lifetime of being noise-sensitive and finally realize itโs because of a #neurodivergent brain. Would it have been easier to cope when I lived in an apartment if Iโd been aware? Iโll never know.
What I do know is that I do not do well in captivity aka a city ๐คทโโ๏ธ And have better insights as to why that is.

As someone who didn't know how good ANC headphones and ear plugs were, before he found out. Because I basically didn't use them. I have to say that yes, living in an apartment is so much easier now. However, I did know enough about myself, to never even try and live in a city. I don't even like visiting them.

I call my ADHD side, Sir squirrel brain, but even he doesn't like visiting. I like border collie brain, having had a couple as pets/friends, very apt. ๐

@pathfinder I had a border collie/Lab mix, which is the origin. Still kind of on the fence about "bulldog" but so far it's the best I can come up with.
I also use Goldilocks brain, which is clear concept-wise, but far too tidy for what actually goes on inside my head. ๐ It's more like the two dogs who have each grabbed opposite ends of the same stick.

Having never owned ( and I hate that phrase) a bulldog, I can't help you with that one. They've always struck me as very laid back, though.

I find loud music works much better when I dance to it.
Dancing is the best stim.
@andytiedye Itโs not clear enough, which makes it more difficult to cope with. Unidentifiable but very intrusive noise. But they donโt practice very long, for which I am very grateful.
You could put on your own music.
Many of us #neurdivergent people don't do well in cities. Cities are for extroverts and most of us are introverts.
The "American Dream" has always been more space, and that has been attracting #neurodivergent people from all over the world for 20 generations now.
