@hosford42 @PastaThief I’m translating that as “I write in my language and rely on AI to do the actual coding”. Which would obviously be a disaster. People will learn one way or another. Major Australian bank announced AI voice bot instead of customer service. It flopped. They’ve backtracked and offered ppl their jobs back apparently. IMO that is only one example of FAFO relating to ai.

@hosford42 @PastaThief I can imagine. I don’t really code myself although I’ve learnt a few basics running a website (code or be coded). But I’m married to an IT guy so I’ve picked up some of the dynamics via osmosis. Eg notating code, simple coding is best, etc. He’s been told his code is elegant, easy to review etc.

Timo GrünSimulated intelligence gives you simulated code — you know, like the lines they put on the screen in Hollywood movies. That being said, if you know what you’re doing Claude and co. can give you a hacky starting point for debugging and fleshing out.

When frameworks came out and job seekers thought all there was to programming was a slick UI (wrong) it was bad times. Keeping a half a million lines of code in my head to maintain and add functionality is programming. Vibe coding is misleading and costly in ruining the expectations and education of new coders and that it later requires experienced programmers to fix instead of doing real work.
There is no such thing as a free lunch.
