Amazing moment of realization captured.
@PastaThief Oh wow, person realises that years of study and experience are valuable.
WTH is “vibe coding”? Is it like stream of consciousness and relying on AI to make something of it? Sounds like some weird sh*t.
@DarkMatterZine @PastaThief Coding by proxy with a probabilistic English-to-[your actual programming language] compiler.
@DarkMatterZine @PastaThief Basically you drive ChatGPT or Claude, and the LLM writes the code. Like driving a car from the back seat.
@hosford42 @DarkMatterZine @PastaThief "no! The other left!"
@f4grx @DarkMatterZine @PastaThief Pretty much how it works, based on watching a friend of mine try to do it. lol
@shelldozer @hosford42 @DarkMatterZine @PastaThief I gave little thought to this joke but it surprisingly has more meaning that I initially thought :)
@hosford42 @PastaThief those who use AI will eventually get their FAFO moment.
@hosford42 @PastaThief I’m translating that as “I write in my language and rely on AI to do the actual coding”. Which would obviously be a disaster. People will learn one way or another. Major Australian bank announced AI voice bot instead of customer service. It flopped. They’ve backtracked and offered ppl their jobs back apparently. IMO that is only one example of FAFO relating to ai.
@DarkMatterZine @PastaThief You've got the right idea, and yeah, it doesn't work. Watching my friend try to do it, it's like someone wrestling with an octopus.
@hosford42 @PastaThief I can imagine. I don’t really code myself although I’ve learnt a few basics running a website (code or be coded). But I’m married to an IT guy so I’ve picked up some of the dynamics via osmosis. Eg notating code, simple coding is best, etc. He’s been told his code is elegant, easy to review etc.
