btw conventional games marketing wisdom says block game will never get a lick of press because i'm developing it out in the open and anything that's already public knowledge is not news so that means for it to go anywhere it has to have strong word of mouth

so uh, tell your friends? https://enikofox.com/blockgame

Block Game | Ultima/TES meets Minecraft

Hey everyone! I'm looking to get #FediHired as a (senior) #RustLang developer! Remote preferred!

I have 13 years of software engineering experience, 5 of which with Rust!

If your team needs some additional people power, feel free to DM me and I'd love to have a talk or send my resume!

I'm well versed in most areas, from low level system/ #Linux stuff, all the way to high abstraction full stack web stuff!

✨ Boosts appreciated! ✨

Finally, a personal request: I've been bedridden for the last year with medical issues, and I'm just now finally getting set up with a surgeon to get them fixed. I'm not able to work in this condition, so if you can spare a few dollars, that'd really help.

I've lately been quite obsessed with this app called StreetComplete. It gamifies contributing to OpenStreetMaps in a really nice way by giving you you little quests to do while you walk around. A fun way to get some steps in, to make you look closer at your environment and to do a good thing!

Hey can y'all show @St1ka some love? He's currently being targeted by the right wing outrage grift machine. He runs a YouTube channel covering retro games of all kinds including surprisingly good bootleg games you've probably never even heard of: https://www.youtube.com/@st1ka

so just throwing this out there, but if I were to have what I think is a pretty convincing alternative platform model for the niche itch fill(s|ed), anyone here interested in putting some significant dev-hours towards helping me build said app (as an open source, self-hostable thing, but I can give you more details if you think you can commit).

I mainly need help with doing a lot of the routine stuff, doing the frontend design stuff to make stuff look nice (and idk, I can do CSS but I'm not the BEST at it. I'm serviceable).

Back in the day, Twitter used to be really good if I set up a thread to connect freelancers with clients. Let's see if Mastodon can do it.

Clients: if you're looking for freelancers/contractors, get in the comments

Freelancers/contractors: get in the comments

Everyone else: boosts appreciated.

The market is *dead* for freelancers and a big part of that (in my opinion) is fragmentation. Let's get that network effect *back*.
