#FPQuestion of the day:
What pen makes you particularly happy when you use it? What is it about this pen that makes it particularly joyful to use? (Submitted by @jezlyn)
#FountainPens
@penfount I can never choose just one pen for these kind of questions… 😅 The first I’ll mention is my Pilot Capless Fermo with a custom stacked architect nib by Sallymander. I love that it’s different from the newer Capless pens because it has a twist mechanism. The dark blue color is nice. And of course, the stacked architect nib makes it special. The nib works so well and shows off shading effectively, which is great for my current ink preferences.

@penfount The second pen I’ll mention is my BENU Euphoria Earl Grey with a fine stub nib ground by All in the Nib. I love the design and resin of this Euphoria, a dark transparent brown base with chunky gold and dark blue glitter. The F stub works so well with my small writing. I actually transplanted this nib from the pen I got it with, another cool Euphoria collaboration with The Pen Addict for his 15th (IIRC) anniversary.

I have a few other faves, but I’ll stop here!

@penfount @jezlyn my Conklin Herringbone limited edition with custom medium cursive italic nib. Love the look and feel of the pen, though the nib (once I got it) pretty much ended my hunt for “the pen."

@macosken @penfount Neat pattern!
@jezlyn @penfount right? I didn’t get it because it was limited edition. I just loved the look (and found it on sale for half-off a few years ago). It’s my daily driver.

My 1937 Parker Vacumatic. It is a beautiful stacked celluloid material and the flexible nib is absolutely amazing!

@backtoanalog @penfount Very cool! I keep seeing vintage pens using this celluloid and really want one for my collection.

@jezlyn @penfount

There were a few vintage pen manufacturer's that used stacked celluloid. Parker was most prominent.

This pen's a delight to use. Well machined, very comfortable dimensions for me, and fun to look at. I like the translucence that gives me a peek of both the filling mechanism and the ink. #FountainPens

@mackenzian @penfount Lovely! I think I might’ve seen a purple version of this pen at the SF pen show a while back, but I forgot where I saw it (the show is overwhelmingly big) and regretted not at least giving it a second look. One day I will buy one.
@jezlyn @mackenzian @penfount Hi and yes! Pierre has made the Soubriquet in a few different variations. So far I've seen acrylic and wood versions and the current batch is acrylic.

In 2016, I purchased an ABSURD quantity of dramatic cast acrylic to use in pens. Most of it was transparent, colored, and decorated with little accents that looked gorgeous. The only problem was I had almost no experience working with it! Without great care and an almost impractical amount of hand f

@mackenzian @penfount So pretty… Now if only I could find a spare $350 laying around. 😅
@jezlyn @penfount Right? I like to save up for pen things. It makes it feel like Christmas when the package comes!
@mackenzian @penfount Yeah, the problem for me is that besides buying pen things, I also like buying camera and gadgety things. Rough on the budget! 🤦‍♀️
@jezlyn @mackenzian @penfount I bet. I like buying books when the library is *right there* lol!
@mackenzian @jezlyn @penfount oh that’s lovely, I did think about getting this pen early on when this was one of the few options for a decent G nib pen. At this point I have plenty of pens for pointed nib calligraphy so getting this would just be to get a nice pen… probably won’t be able to justify that for a while (:
@paradoxmo @mackenzian @penfount Whenever I pick this up, I’ll opt for the JoWo nib, as I don’t think I’d use a G nib much.
@jezlyn @paradoxmo Yeah, I think all of the Desiderata pens can take both G and Jowo nibs so it's possible to swap. E.g. I had a G nib in a Daedalus for a while. Wasn't sketching with it anywhere near as much as I expected so swapped in a standard fine nib the other day. What do you like to use for calligraphy? @penfount
@mackenzian @jezlyn right now I have the Fine Writing Fenestro with Regalia Crossflex inked, I also have a pretty good FPR gold flex nib and a couple of vintage wet noodles
@penfount @jezlyn
That's a tough one. Right now, it's a Pelikan M650. I love seeing the classic green stripes and beautiful two tone nib. Writing is effortless with the letters seeming to form themselves.
@tallastro @penfount I had to look this up. You have one with the green stripes and a vermeil cap? Looks really nice!
@jezlyn @penfount
That's the one. A Valentines gift from my wife. Still hasn't left the house.

@penfount @jezlyn My first thought is this John Garnham JG8 in Conway Stewart Stardust Red acrylic. John gifted me the pen (sans nib) last year, & a few months ago I finally made it whole with a #8 Bock steel nib with a fine cursive italic grind, sandblasted & engraved with my logo. I absolutely adore writing with it, especially since I can write nice & small with it while still having that CI look.

@toga @penfount @jezlyn Beauty and that nib with your logo 😱😍
@toga @penfount Great pen! And yeah, the logo is an awesome touch. ✨
