@matt_birchler well, yeah, you jump straight to the tenth film in a series, what do you expect?!
@matt_birchler I’ve watched the trailer a few times. Never looked good enough to me to commit
@matt_birchler I walked less than ten minutes of this film…and quickly realized it didn't float my boat (pardon the pun 😉). Thanks for confirming my suspicions.
#movie #66: Finding Nemo
#movie #67: Inglourious Basterds
@matt_birchler ?!!! Freaking loved this one!!!
@matt_birchler That ending!!! So cathartic
@matt_birchler your first time?
@stevenodb I saw it when it came out, but first time since then.
@matt_birchler that movie pushes all my buttons.
@matt_birchler One of the greatest sci-fi movies of all time, IMHO.
@matt_birchler We loved being able to watch something with real Ocean’s 11 vibes with our kids. Recently went to the theatres to see the second one and it was a hit with everyone too. Love that you get great heist stories with a soft examination of why morality matters and what motivates us to be who we are? But it’s first and foremost a fun style piece.
@matt_birchler Watched it Friday. I liked it 😁
@matt_birchler Pierce Brosnan’s hair is magnificent in this film.
@matt_birchler Just finished it about 15 minutes ago. I hope they make more. It's no Knives Out but it doesn't have to be. It was fun and funny.
@matt_birchler For me is one of the best sci-fi movies ever.
@matt_birchler Also, it has like, scenes with *good* cinematography. Unlike so many superhero moviee that practically seems to be dripping with contempt for the cinematic medium.
@torb For real! There’s a passion for filmmaking that I don’t really get from the Marvel formula, which seems to be a plot delivery device that sucks the personality out of whatever director/writer/cinematographer has the helm on that specific movie.
@matt_birchler I don’t know what went wrong during my viewing, but I wanted to get out of the theatre. I hated every second of that movie. Everything felt fake, from the CG to the acting to the characters’ intentions.
And the whole evil IT setup that Luthor had was ridiculous—probably intentional— it didn’t raise the quality for me.
@matt_birchler and that whole other universe jail scene, oh my god just the worst. The shapeshifter just sits there, hurting Superman, but one unmemorable character gets shot and that changes everything to the point he’s willing to give up his son. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@stevenodb Different strokes for different folks, that’s art, babyyyyy 😊
@matt_birchler I watched that first trailer dozens of times, so amazing 😌
@matt_birchler 100% agree. Between this and Fantastic Four I’m starting to think they might be getting their mojo back.
@matt_birchler i mean not even Spielberg managed to do 2 good Jurassic movies 😅
@matt_birchler I fucking hated this movie. The kid deserved to get eaten.
@matt_birchler this video is the most accurate representation of the franchise I’ve seen: https://youtu.be/AwWz34RVzuA?si=v9sHtA5lff352iM2
the jurassic park movies

YouTube
@matt_birchler I love how it starts out as a dumb 80s action movie and morphs into a slasher / horror film. Also part of McTiernan’s epic string of movies in 4 years: Predator, Hunt for Red October, Die Hard. Amazing.
@biggsjm That really is a hell of a run, isn't it!?
@matt_birchler how have I never heard of this?
@tchaten It came out last year but never really got as much hype as it deserved. Definitely worth a watch (and I know nothing about Robbie Williams).
@matt_birchler fuuuuuuuck yes
@keenan This was amazing! That sequence in the streets when thy get the record deal is one of the best things in any movie, so good!
@matt_birchler I basically ruined my YouTube recommendations for a month because I watched that bit multiple times a day for weeks. It’s a great number. So creative and fun.
@keenan @matt_birchler loved the film and that version of Rock DJ was brilliant. Also ruined my YT recommendations too. haha
@matt_birchler don’t recall if you’ve seen it, but Piece by Piece was another atypical music documentary that came out around the same time. Also really well done.
@matt_birchler what app is this?
@matt_birchler never mind I kept going and saw you linked it! This looks great. It looks like it’s optimized for books, movies, and music- can a future update include games? 🤔
@Bdkl it’s actually always supported games as well, so it should be good to go! 😊
