My latest project is code-named "Total Reprint." I ported The Print Shop (1986) to ProDOS and made it hard-drive-installable. Then I made some other improvements, like live previews of third-party graphics and borders. It's bundled with every graphic, border, and font that Broderbund ever released, plus hundreds of other openly licensed graphics that I back-ported from modern artists.

Come to INIT HELLO in July for the product launch. <https://init-hello.org/>

FujiNet
@a2_4am The nerve of this guy. He'll do anything.
@a2_4am Pity there's no online option for the event!
@herrprofdr look just enjoy your healthcare and functioning democracy and be happy
@jaybird110127 Your latest boost from 4am is the second time that this INIT HELLO conference has come across my feed. Not gonna lie, I'm tempted to go; it might be fun. But I'm not a hard-core Apple II enthusiast.
@matt You gotta love the name though, right?
@matt I actually own an IIe and an IIgs, though they're in storage, with no immediate plans to pull them out.
@matt I guess I've missed something. They keep talking about INIT HELLO. Has Kansasfest gone by the wayside for some reason? That IIRC used to be the primary Apple II enthusiasts' conference.
@jaybird110127 @matt it's online only this year after the organizers did a weird thing to go back to Kansas and got rightfully nailed for this (especially since last year they moved away from Kansas so that everyone could come). Announced very close to the Trump inauguration, that seemed really distasteful.
@colin_mcmillen @jaybird110127 @matt
from what I gather one of the reasons was the perceived racism in Kansas, which I find it a bit ironic as the venue for this new conference (northern Baltimore County / nearby Southern Pennsylvania) unfortunately has a reputation for being a racist area (google racist york pa mayor). probably moreso than a college town in Kansas
@deater78 @colin_mcmillen @jaybird110127 @matt it was because of Kansas’s bathroom bill making it incredibly unsafe for transgender people to attend
@a2_4am this is a very cool project!
@a2_4am Does a virtual (print to PDF) printer exists for the Apple II?
@weirdocollector @a2_4am surl-server (https://www.colino.net/wordpress/en/surl-server-a-serial-proxy-for-8bit-computers/) let's you use a modern printer with your Apple II. But, if you don't have a physical printer, it'll default to outputting PostScript files that you can use or convert to PDF.

@weirdocollector The NewPrint outputs to PDF, but it’s hardware, and needs a printer card, so not exactly “virtual”.

Some emulators do.

If someone codes up sort for its SmartPort printer, the #FujiNet could.

@europlus @weirdocollector
FujiNet already prints to virtual PDF with custom IIc ROM.
@a2_4am
I'm not crying,
You're crying

@a2_4am I remember that and similar software!

Back then, with fanfold continuous feed paper, we could print long banners. We can't do that anymore with modern printers.

@a2_4am I spent HOURS with The Print Shop, printing all kinds of posters and other stuff on my father's 9-pin printer.
@a2_4am This is so cool and a blast from the past
@a2_4am AHHH! MEMORIES! I started a "card printing business" with this when I was like 10 years old. THANK YOU.
