My latest project is code-named "Total Reprint." I ported The Print Shop (1986) to ProDOS and made it hard-drive-installable. Then I made some other improvements, like live previews of third-party graphics and borders. It's bundled with every graphic, border, and font that Broderbund ever released, plus hundreds of other openly licensed graphics that I back-ported from modern artists.
Come to INIT HELLO in July for the product launch. <https://init-hello.org/>
plug for the #rc2014 Mini II Picasso in there because it's such a lovely project, in its commitment to the bit and sense of joy
of course i've now arbitraged myself into ordering the kit out of appreciation, this one i won't be able to get away with putting on expenses, but maybe persuade someone to write a #Z80 demo for it that really realises its art effect :)
@elb I'm now ready to announce #NNCPNET, the #NNCP-based email network. https://salsa.debian.org/jgoerzen/docker-nncpnet-mailnode/-/wikis/home
It is open to all. It can route email across the Internet or USB stick. You can run a full, real mail server without a public IP, port forwarding, or even Internet access. It's a friend-of-a-friend network; mail delivery is automatic, but adding people is done by humans.
It uses all the tools that you're used to with Internet email, but is the opposite of it. Enjoy!
I noticed the retro Mac community was working on #GlobalTalk and although I'm not working on anything, I thought I'd contribute this suggestion: If you're using AppleShare on Mac OS 7.6 or later, you might want to use the AppleShare client extension that shipped with Mac OS 9.2.2. That's AppleShare version 3.9.2.
One of the last things I worked on in Mac OS 9 was the AppleShare client that shipped in Mac OS 9.2.2. The AppleShare team had moved on to work on Mac OS X and because I'd supported AppleShare while in Developer Technical Support and had worked on the AppleShare client for Mac OS 9.0 to make it work with the File Manager changes in 9.0, I got the job.
The bug I was given to fix was poor Finder performance when a user opened multiple directories simultaneously on an AppleShare volume. However, after fixing that bug, I kept going. :)
What follows in this thread is a list of things I changed:
1/5 🧵
Gandi sent another message yesterday for an example of a message that I am SENDING that fails (the problem has nothing to do with sending mail), after a message from someone saying they would forward what I said (they are blocking email from groups.io in their spam filter) to the appropriate department.
I'm probably going to go with porkbun. at least they have humans with pictures on their website
and seem to have some interest in customer support.
Visit 1960 Hong Kong via twenty colour slides. As always, lots of clues to explore, plus a mystery with the Furama Hotel I hope you'll be able to explain.
