Good morning peeps:)

Short Shake out for the legs this morning.
Out at 5:33 am, 🌑️19°c 94% humidity

So, 5km in 34:40, this is a new PB for me in barefoot shoes, and week by week, I'm slowly getting closer to my all time PB. I think expelling those demons yesterday helped a lot with opening up, plus; the routes not exactly flat, but far more preferable to where I ran my all time best.

Then an easy 2k home, for 7.10km total - a good start to the day, ticked off πŸ‘πŸ˜

@robchapman congratulations on your 5k PB!
It's harder to run in barefoot shoes, so any progress is a victory for your body mechanics πŸŽ‰.

Well done πŸ’ͺ!

@s1m0n4 Thank you, so much πŸ™ 😁, I have to admit that now I've run just over 300km in barefoot shoes, I find it a lot easier as my feet are so much stronger
- I've never been an especially quick runner anyway, so for me to be to close to my bouncy shoe 5k time, and now seeing my times getting quicker over long (15k +) distance is very encouraging.

@robchapman

This 'barefoot shoe' topic is also for me very interesting. I run sometimes in my Merrels. But the goal is to do it more often. Think my feet would love it πŸ‘πŸ™‚

@s1m0n4

@BarefootMicha
For me running in barefoot shoes is a lot more comfortable, especially for my left foot, as I have Morton's Neuroma on the 3rd and 4th toes, and being barefoot all the time at home, and in barefoot shoes at all other times, has eliminated the pain and discomfort I suffer in cushioned shoes, I don't think I would have been able to add two more half marathons to the one I did at the end of last year...so retraining foot strike, stride and strength has been very worthwhile.
@s1m0n4

@BarefootMicha @robchapman for now I'm just walking in a pair of barefoot Xero shoes. However I plan to start short #running sessions in them, maybe once a week, this summer.

@s1m0n4

I wear barefoot shoes without exceptions more then 10 years in my everyday life. And for running also once a week for about 6 or 7K. It's always a good feeling, but I would like to increase this.

@robchapman

@BarefootMicha
There is no time like the present, as they say. Seriously though, I see no reason why you could not start increasing your distance now. You are a zen master, or long time transitioned into barefoot shoes, so the only thing that is really holding you back from steadily increasing and running longer distances in barefoot shoes - is whatever is holding you back, now.
@s1m0n4

@robchapman

The thing against it is my wish to run longer runs. And the target is a 62,3K Ultratrail in 2026 or at least 2027.
So it's diffcult for me to handle both. Long runs and running more in barefoot shoes.

@s1m0n4

@BarefootMicha
Have you thought about running the ultra barefoot? it's quite a common shoe choice.

I'd quite like to do a marathon barefoot, and go onto a ultra., but first I need to get back to my pre-barefoot performance, now i am a barefoot runner...

@s1m0n4

@s1m0n4 @BarefootMicha @robchapman could please provide some pics?

@itwars @BarefootMicha @robchapman of our minimalist / barefoot shoes?

These are the ones I use for walking. The first model is for transitioning, there's a bit of cushioning.
The second one is for trail running/walking.

@s1m0n4 @BarefootMicha @robchapman I ❀️ the pink one!
@itwars @BarefootMicha @robchapman Merci! Ce sont des chaussures de course de la marque Xero. En revanche les autres sont des chaussures de ville avec traitement hydrofuge.
@s1m0n4 @BarefootMicha @robchapman pour mes randos l'Γ©tΓ© j'utilise assez souvent ma paire de Merrell All Out Blaze Sieve
@itwars @BarefootMicha @robchapman ça se voit que tu les portes bien 😁! C'est vraiment étonnant comment la façon de marcher change avec des chaussures minimalistes.
