Drama Recs Challenge Day 1
The challenge pic for the #DramaRecCchallenge does not specify #KDrama so many of my recs will be #JDrama, #TWDrama or #CDrama
It was REALLY tough to pick Day 1, but In the end I went with a KDrama anyway. #FatedToLoveYou has enough of the common elements of #KDrama to be a good intro,. Critically it has an uncomplicated happy ending, after a gut-punchingly emotional couple of eps toward the end.
Drama Recs Challenge Day 3
At bsky, I used #KDrama #ForestOfSecrets for #DramaRecsChallenge Day 3, "a gripping thriller".
But that Drama is so exceptional it's going to be featured a lot, and already has been, so here at my preferred SNS home, a road less travelled.
This #TWDrama, MARS (note the caps) is an undervalued gem, recently getting some attention after the death of the FL from a pneumonial infection in her mid-40s

Of the ~520 East Asian Dramas I've completed only TWO are pure historicals

#TreeWithDeepRoots is UNBELIEVABLY AWESOME.
An entire #KDrama built around the creation of a WRITING SYSTEM? Lengthy dialogues about the physiological mechanics of speech and how to represent vowels and consonants in writing? Be Still My Beating Heart!😍
Also, the usual sageuk politics but enhanced by Jang Hyuk's trademark maniacal laugh😀
Drama Recs Challenge Day 6
Recently I've been thinking a lot about rewatching this OLD #TWDrama because of Ko Chia Yen's recent roles. She's come a LONG way since this one, but for #DramaRecsChallenge Day 6 it wins over its #KDrama competition, in no small part thanks to its title😀 The main romance is more Candy/Cinderella style, but there is a secondary romance that is definitely "office romance"
Drama Recs Challenge Day 7
This was an easy one. Not only does this great #JDrama feature a strong ensemble cast, the entire plot and point of the show is their characters ARE an ensemble, a string Quartet. No #KDrama or #CDrama I've watched is as literal a fit for this #DramaRecsChallenge . That it was my first introduction to the multi-talented ( and gorgeous) Mitsushima Hikari was a nice bonus
Drama Recs Challenge Day 10
When I saw "found family" for #DramaRecsChallenge Day 10 my mind went straight to a favourite #JDrama #BaraNoNaiHanaya. No #KDrama leapt to mind for me. But this #JDrama is a great fit, "found family" is really what this one is all about and the performance of the then 7yo lead is AMAZING! Imo, he did even better in S2, at the ripe old age of 10
Drama Recs Challenge Day 13
All entertainment choices are subjective of course, but that's probably most especially true of comedy.
If I had a won for every time I've read gushing praise for the Waikiki series as great/the greatest #KDrama comedy, I could buy Jejudo. If I had a Won for every time that show made ME laugh, I'd have a jeon.
So for #DramaRecsChallenge Day 13 the funniest East Asian Drama I've yet seen. My kind of comedy and a barrel of laughs - for me #JDrama Date
Drama Recs Challenge Day 14
One Drama leapt straight to mind, and only one. #KDrama #OneDayOff was SUPERB for being a 'healing/therapy' kind of watch. The perfect palate cleanser, a VERY rare gem. If there was at least one Drama a year like this one, I'd be ecstatic. Or, to be more tonally appropriate, I'd be calmly and contemplatively mellow. 😀 #DramaRecsChallenge
Drama Recs Challenge Day 15
Another swerve from my bsky pick here. This is a #KDrama I *NEARLY* used there, but the character limit too short there. This was not marketed or promoted as gay/GL, since the 2 FLs were mentor/mentee & Regent/rival really. BUT their chem was (imo) HOT, to the extent that the ML, the nominal 'love interest' felt like nothing so much as an intrusive 3rd wheel. I had little interest in him and resented his taking screen time from the pair that mattered😀 #WhiteNights
Drama Recs Challenge Day 16
I thought of 2 French books for #DramaRecsChallenge 16. Both books have had a very visible impact on #KDrama & #JDrama I've seen. 1 is 'petit', 1 is VERY big.
I chose the BIG one, in Robin Buss's translation. It is perhaps somewhat ironic that I'm more likely to prefer a Drama built around Le Petit Prince than one inspired by (Edmond) Dantes' inferno. 😀

I do NOT like fantasy, preferring ghosts & demons of the internal/psychological kind, so I've watched few Dramas that were prominently fantasy. One that I'd forgotten about was this one, #KDrama #Welcome2Life I gave it 8/10 for the strong performances of both leads, probably my favourite Rain role. Adding it to this challenge has got me thinking of a rewatch!

A tough one for #DramaRecsChallenge -
I have 25 #Cdrama #TWDrama and #JDrama in my database with "friendship" as a major genre component - but in the end I went with #KDrama #GoodbyeToGoodbye since it was all about the growth of such a beautiful, deep & strong friendship that I call the non-romantic leads the OTP , and scored the Drama 12/10

Drama Recs Challenge Day 22
2 #KDrama possibilities - #Circle & especially #MyPerfectStranger are mysteries I'd recommend - but in the end #JDrama #OkitegamiKyōkoNoBibōroku wins for #DramaRecsChallenge because "addictive".
The addictive mystery is "who is she, and why is she a detective?" Since we never find out, I was left craving an S2 . TEN YEARS later, and having watched it FIVE times, I still wish there could be an S2 to explore that mystery. I'd say that counts as an addiction 🤔

but it was not the 1st kiss I thought of. This one was. #JDrama Our Sister's Soulmate on NF was soft & sweet. This kiss scene imprinted itself for the ML explicitly asking for consent Be.Still.My.Beating.Heart - I'm a total sucker for the rare occasions when consent is sought. Ergo, to ME, this was legendary

For the penultimate #DramaRecsChallenge "A Time Travel Tale", there was an embarras de richesse (Pretentious? Moi?!)
from #KDrama #QueenInHyunsMan to #JDrama #NobunagaConcerto and many, others. I went with #TWDrama "Love, Timeless"
The reasons are in the screenshot - it's just a shame that it seems it's no longer being carried by any streaming services. A prime (ha!) candidate for Tubi, I think

To wrap this fun #DramaRecsChallenge 1 "absolute classic" Drama leapt to mind. One that got nearly everything right.
Those newer to the world of #KDrama (post 2017-ish) may not know that back in the primeval mists of time, #KDrama romcom writers did NOT think "it can't possibly be a REAL romcom without a psychopathic serial killer arc"'"🙄
This DAEBAK Drama, #CoffeePrince , is from those halcyon days of long ago. Would that those days return! 
There was a kiss in #KingTheLand where the ML asked permission and I was so shocked that although it was fine acting, that acknowledgment of consent made it so much better
