I made spinach-ricotta gnocchi last night and used tomato sauce that I'd canned during the summer (Marcella Hazan's onion and butter version). One of my favorite meals. #gnocchi #tomatoes #cooking #food #wine #alcohol
Spinach Gnocchi Recipe

Gnocchi are Italian dumplings. Classic gnocchi are made with potatoes and flour, but there are variations, like these considerably lighter Florentine gnocchi made with spinach and ricotta. I serve them with a simple marinara sauce. They are also good simply tossed with a little butter or olive oil and sage.

Marcella Hazan’s Tomato Sauce Recipe (Gift Recipe)

This is perhaps the most famous recipe created by Marcella Hazan, the cookbook author who changed how Americans cook Italian food. It also may be her easiest. Use your favorite canned tomatoes for this and don’t be scared off by the butter. It gives the sauce an unparalleled velvety richness.

@colinpurrington I love this recipe!! So simple, so good.

Martha Rose Shulman's recipes are all so good!

@anne @colinpurrington Her garlic soup!
@SRLevine @anne The white bean and garlic soup?
@colinpurrington @anne No, it's this one: http://www.martha-rose-shulman.com/vegrecipes/garlic_soup.html , though the original version was more like 1-2 whole heads of garlic, this is a little weaker, I do the variations with some sort of leafy green like spinach or arugula (and often peas) & the pasta variation together (and I usually don't bother with the bread because pasta)

One of my all-time favorites from that site is her Mediterranean fish stew. It’s outstanding.

@anne @SRLevine That sounds fantastic and I'm going to make it.
@SRLevine @anne Excellent, thanks. I just looked in my copy of Provençal Light and she has several other garlic soups that look good, too. I need to try them all.
@colinpurrington The absolute right amount of sauce, too. <3
@weirdmustard I used two (2) jars!
@colinpurrington worth it, hope it was as good as it looks!
