I seem to have saved a few bits and bobs from the time of the currency change-over to the Euro. A few ads, newspaper clippings, and that Irish £ to € calculator which I’m pretty sure I used only about twice. My memory is that I got Euros out of an ATM after a New Year’s party at the Project Arts Centre … and that was it. Currency transition done.

Ooh, just dug this out. Raw comic magazine compilation selected from the first 3 issues (Read Yourself Raw, 1987). I think a mate bought it for me in my late teens as a birthday pressie (£9.99 from Forbidden Planet when it was on Dawson St. Dublin). @MarkMaguire I'm jealous that you seem to have kept your Eagle collection.

My grandmother had them set aside in a newsagents in Marino and I got them every week. Then when we moved overseas, she'd send them monthly.

They got misplaced during one of our moves which makes me sad both because I can't get the nostalgia-rush from flicking through them all these years later, and also because they were a connection to my grandmother.

Still... the memories are the important thing.

@JimBliss yeah, I’ve been lucky that my mother left them alone in the attic for so long. I’ve got a good 300 or more from no. 1 (no cover sadly) now in my own attic. But they are a great source of nostalgia (and ideas for new movies for tired Hollywood types 😝).
