@nixCraft Tech Bros with zero empathy hailing unhealthy practices and AI.
It’s rather cliche, huh?
Yep, I don’t like rules but the one rule that I do enforce is that people take rest when they are tired or sick.
It’s the best way to prevent good #developers from writing bad #code.
Yep, nothing is worse than having a single developer underperform and then an entire team underperform due to sickness.
Also, working while sick means you will remain sick longer (and thus longer underperforming).
"So go home, take the week off, and only when you are fully recovered do I want to see you back."

Tell me you have a stimulant problem without telling me you have a stimulant problem.
@nixCraft But this way you can ensure that the code the AI hallucinates is better than what your human engineers can do. This is the proof that generative works, and your company has achieved AGI!!!11!!!
I'll show myself out.
@nixCraft I asked Gemini what date did Easter fall on this year. It told me April 10.
Keep on shipping ...
@nixCraft I have pulled three months of all nighters (sleep two hours from 6PM to 8PM, work, sleep from 5AM to 7AM, work, repeat) during my M.Sc., and my legs were numb from work and sleep deprivation. This was due to a planning error on my part, and I learnt my lesson.
I did pull ZERO all nighters during my Ph.D., and finished on time and with much higher quality work.
So, no, this is not a flex. This is self harm and setting bad examples.
@nixCraft what is it with tech industry having no concept of the human factors or the dirty dozen?
In aviation mechanics aren't allowed to work more than 12 hours without a minimum of 8 hours rest after.
Advertising that you and your company is awful on every level is so stereotypically Tech Bro.
Also "AI engineer"?
I used my own sleeping bag. I can not sleep in a chair.
I never pushed to PROD on Fridays though.
That was reserved for drinking.
@nixCraft “founding engineer” pulls the third all nighter, but the founder rolls in at 11am.
This team never stops exploiting labor.
