#ElonMusk tasked by #Trump to slash the size of the 2.2M civilian govt #workforce, has installed allies at the agency known as the #OPM.

2 ofcls, who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of #retaliation, said some snr career #employees at OPM have had their access revoked to some of the dept's data systems.

The systems include a vast database called Enterprise Human Resources Integration, which contains DOBs, SSNs, appraisals, home addresses, pay grades & length of service of govt workers…

"We have no visibility into what they are doing with the computer & data systems," one of the ofcls said. "That is creating great concern. There is no #oversight. It creates real #cybersecurity & #hacking implications." Ofcls affected by the move can still log on & access functions such as email but can no longer see the massive datasets that cover every facet of the federal workforce.

The system could give #Trump another mechanism to attempt to unilaterally restrict disbursement of #money approved for specific purposes by Congress, a push that has faced legal roadblocks.

The new *authority* [overthrown] follows a standoff this week with a top #Treasury ofcl who had resisted allowing #ElonMusk’s lieutenants into the department’s payment system, which sends out #money on behalf of the entire #federal #government. The ofcl, a career #CivilServant named #DavidLebryk 🦸🏻‍♂️, was put on leave & then suddenly retired [was #fired] on Friday after the dispute….
