@laescude @snopes Fact checking and spell checking are not the same thing. Although confirming an organization's correct spelling is kinda both.
And frequent misspellings and grammatical errors are an indicator of low-quality writing that is often lax about facts, too.
So... different, but definitely linked.

@snopes Be sure to verify your account, so noone can impersonate it!
@Sibshops @snopes Unsolicited instructions: Add this HTML somewhere on the page that resolves when you visit `https://snopes.com`:
```
<a href="https://infosec.exchange/@snopes" rel="me">Mastodon</a>
```
Then, add `https://snopes.com` to your Mastodon profile's โ Profile metadataโ section.
Then, expect your webserver to be regularly queried by every Mastodon instance 24/7 until the end of time.
@snopes
Welcome to the Fediverse!
An even better validation of this fact that you might consider is verification:
@rstub
You see (most/all?) other answers, if you visit the "original page" of the post.
(Which is easily done in the web interface, but on mobile clients - at least the one I use - a bit more cumbersome)
It's about time!
I missed you.
Welcome!!
@snopes WELCOME! It's great to have you here.
This makes me so happy. ๐
Hey @snopes!
Is it planned to do verify your account here too?
You can look at https://infosec.exchange/settings/verification how to do that.
@snopes Welcome!
You should verify your profile: https://joinmastodon.org/verification

@snopes clever announcement.
Sadly, when I visited the site from the front to confirm....
In the footer links: Facebook (Meta company), Threads (Meta's Threads), and X (Musk's Twitter) along with Bluesky (at least not as bad yet). There's no Mastodon icon.
"Try Snopes FactBot AI" is linked at the top of search results.
More Facebook and X linked icons are prominent at the top of articles.
I prefer trustworthy fact-checking sites provided by real people. That doesn't appear to be Snopes (this account or the site).
@snopes welcome to the fedi
this is the whey ๐ง
