Just back from the vet. One word...

Fleas

😕

@jerry

/Me Scratches everywhere ... 🫤

@jerry

FWIW: Hospitals are also good places to acquire flees 🥴

@jerry will your wife be applying medication to the back of your neck?
@jerry You or the dog?
@noxubell my cat, who was in to have a glucose sensor installed. but I am pretty sure he got the fleas from one of the other cats or the dog, so we are having to treat them all as if they have them
@jerry small consolation but it’s only fleas. I just learned a couple of days ago of “Machiavellian microbes” when listening to "The Disappearing Spoon" podcast. Those are frightening. https://www.sciencehistory.org/stories/disappearing-pod/machiavellian-microbes/
Machiavellian Microbes

Parasites can force animals to do nefarious things by manipulating their minds—including, uncomfortably, the minds of human beings.

@jerry I reactively got itchy feet from reading this. 😬
@catsalad when I told my wife, she started getting very itchy too.

@jerry @catsalad I had to deal with fleas once. We picked it up from a shared lodging where the person before us had brought a dog with a flea infestation and we then brought it home with us unknowingly.

It was not fun. We had to spread a bunch of diatomaceous earth all around the house.

@jerry our doggo got fleas bad from a dog park. you could watch them crawl around, dozens at a time. Dish soap killed most of them in 1 bath. None of that flea shampoo stuff.

It's been a few weeks, and doggo (and we) have that psychosomatic 'every itch must mean infestation' hysteria.

@jerry Jerry you really have let yourself go since retiring.
@jerry If anything goes zombie, I'm naming you patient zero.
@jerry Aren’t you bald??? Wait, did you not manscape enough?
@jerry get a long-lasting carpet spray. That was the only thing that worked for me.
@jerry Once took my dog to vet because he was gnawing the base of his tail. I swore to her he didn’t have fleas.
She took a few minutes, looking around his rear, and very quickly pulled out a flea.
I apologized and get stuff to handle the fleas.
(I really didn’t think he had fleas. I’ve been in flea-infested situations before, and thought I knew what they looked like. I was wrong.)
@Archergal I was just blissfully unaware and I feel bad now
@jerry Yeah, I hear you. I felt bad then too. #FleaSolidarity

@jerry

These vets with fleas are a problem. Are they still living in the woods?

Wait...
wrong type of vets. You mean Dr Dolittlers...

As you wer.

@jerry been there. Done that. Got fleas AND ringworm. Beat that!
