What your coffee says about the average #Linux user ...
@ed1conf @nixCraft I'm Nano based on the coffee preparation method.
@ed1conf @nixCraft Mocca Express. Every kitchen's got one kicking around somewhere. Strong, basic, slightly bitter and burnt, always works. Notepad.

I suppose that

$ cat > file.txt

is a bit like cowboy/Turkish coffee, just throwing the grounds in the water and waiting for them to settle.

@nixCraft

@ed1conf
"Throwing the grounds in the water"?! You're one of those people who "Throw the cereal into the milk", are ya?

@nixCraft

@ed1conf
This... Checks out. I'm an emacs user and I do in fact prefer espresso machines whenever I can (too expensive for me to own one personally though).

Cool my coffee story is the same as my editor story so i can mix them up. I was intruduced to vi at my 1st testing job. Already drank coffee. Then i changed job windows coffee so i forgot all the vi commands now i drink senseo.

@ed1conf @nixCraft i use nano because it is preinstalled on my distro and because it does the basics i need it to do

nobody hurt me, nobody hurt me, nobody hurt me, nobody hurt me, nobody hurt me

@ed1conf @nixCraft
VIM & moving over to Debian.
Yes, have coffee makers like the first one.

I quit coffee tho. :D

@ed1conf @nixCraft micro editor. Tea bag & hot water. 😂
@ed1conf @nixCraft Gets my coffee machine, editor, and distro correctly!
@ed1conf @nixCraft Mostly Emacs, ocassionally vim. But I use a Bodum french press.

@ed1conf @nixCraft

My coffee is ed style. My editing is more vi (less vim, but some ed).

Arch is nice in concept, but I use Ubuntu these days with the same window manager and X11 tools I've been using for twenty years. A casual observer wouldn't notice the difference between my Slackware and my Ubuntu installs.

@ed1conf @nixCraft
Vim - and matching coffee machine
@ed1conf @nixCraft There is a French Press missing, and I'm curious what chat thinks of neovim in the coffee-editor map?
@ed1conf @nixCraft Where's the Aeropress? I use acme.
@ed1conf @nixCraft Soo, am I a vim user with my moka pot or what? 🤔
@ed1conf @nixCraft I'm in this photo and I don't like it.
@Kayla @ed1conf @nixCraft Better - much better! The only important VIM/VI tricks:
- [ESC][ESC][ESC]
- [ESC][:][U]
- [ESC][:][Q][!]
@kenjen @ed1conf @nixCraft All of my text documents edited in vim end up like: “exitQwqQ!W!Q!” before I realize I’m in “insert mode”.
@ed1conf @nixCraft Notepad++ and I'm more of a tea guy. Well, okay, mostly a carbonated corn syrup guy, but I feel like that brings us back to Ubuntu.
@ed1conf @nixCraft hmm, this checks out (emacs)
@ed1conf @nixCraft here I thought I was a hexyl curious neovim user but apparently ed(1) is my editor of choice, I use alpine btw
@ed1conf @nixCraft ...and my coffee grinder, the best I've ever had, is a hundred years old and that resonates quite well with my ideal of old hardware plus modern software
