@cabel McDonalds really did go through an "elaborate hand-painted mural" phase -- here's some (unfortunately terrible) photos from the one in Stillwater, Minnesota in 2019. They even include the historic Stillwater bridge and local dinner tour paddleboat.

This mural _probably_ dates to the early-to-mid 1990s; I believe this McDonalds was built while I was in high school.

This talk is absolutely beautiful, and incredibly moving. I want more like this on the internet.
