It is a beautiful day today. I hope y’all have a great weekend, but remember to push that code to prod on your way out.

And remember…

…if it works in production, it would have worked fine in test too.

@jerry What is this test env that you speak of? Everyone knows you only test in Production. /s
@aria_unbound this is the way. Think of all the money you’re saving
@jerry @aria_unbound Everyone knows that test environments are just a sign of misallocated money that should have been in the marketing team's budget.
@aria_unbound @jerry everybody has a test environment. The lucky few have a separate environment for prod!
@RoganDawes @aria_unbound @jerry Some of us have a test and a staging environment! 😹
@jerry
I should push that   update now, since it's Friday, you know.
@jerry …not taking prisoners, i see… 😃
@jerry "if you think about it, prod is about as good as any test environment could be"

@jerry The test environment simply doesn't have the excellent coverage that the production environment has.

Push to prod, it's the only way to make sure.

@jerry Skeletor vibes.

… [insert super concerning truth.]”

@jerry you clearly haven't seen our test environment
@jerry speaking of which, neither have I
@jerry "Building Suricata with NG DPI" means configuring and deploying the open-source network intrusion detection system (IDS) Suricata to utilize "Next Generation Deep Packet Inspection" (NG DPI), allowing it to analyze the content of network packets beyond just headers, enabling more comprehensive threat detection by identifying malicious patterns within application data and complex protocols, providing a deeper level of network visibility compared to standard packet inspection.
@jerry push to prod, turn off your phone, and enjoy your weekend everyone!
@jerry Nah, edit in prod, no need to "push".
@jerry Usually best to do this before going on vacation. Especially if you're going somewhere with no cell phone service.
@jerry I just merged a PR. Done and done.

@jerry Today I was the only one in the office in the afternoon - out of roughly 350 people.

took some “Pablo Escobar staring into the space” pictures in the empty hallways/kitchen

@jerry Jealous. North Carolina?
@tchambers this is Panama City Beach, Florida

@jerry Back in the days when I was pushing to prod on the behalf of biz managers, I had to roll into the hard-ass Director's office one Friday at 5:20pm because I accidentally blew up prod.

Me: "B, I am so so sorry, I was doing something for someone last minute and took down the F* server. F*."

Him: Quiet for a sec and starts laughing... "Joy, I did not know you even knew that word."

He fixed the server with a chuckle. Later, this same guy cried when I left that company.

@jerry WE UNDERSTAND THE ASSIGNMENT
@hacks4pancakes @jerry like anyone’s gonna be around on a Friday afternoon to apply updates. xD
@whereisthespai @hacks4pancakes @jerry a couple weeks ago I know someone who deleted a parent group in GH and fucked up their whole teams weekend+. Fun fact that's not something you can undo in GH and it causes all the subgroups to be deleted.
@jerry So gorgeous at the Elgin Farmers market, mid 80s with a cool breeze coming off the river. I love evening farmers markets with bars. Perfect time for buying my weekly veg.
@jerry Enjoy the beach you crazy geezer/rabblerouser..
@jerry We used to get software packages (end user updates) from engineering on Friday afternoons.
We actually flipped a coin to decide who would be on-call that night to take the “we gotta pull that one down for now” call from engineering management.
