I find it pretty hard to believe that the secret service would have allowed random crowd members to carry/open carry at a presidential rally for obvious reasons. Mr. MustacheThere is no such thing as shoot to wound. Any shot sufficient to stop someone is probably lethal. If they are incapable of deescalation they should use non lethal tools like tazer or accept the fact that the subject is a direct and immediate threat to others lives and safety (not property)

If you trust the police to be better armed than you then you welcome more oppression by police. The Panthers understood this. That is why American gun laws started in California, Reagan and the police couldn't stand the idea of armed minorities protecting their communities from police abuse. @mstrmustache this is just not true. No one in my country is better armed than the police, and police oppression is a rare phenomenon.
What you need is a better educated police force, better police salaries, and stronger methods for rooting out the bad apples in the police force.
Oh yeah, I am sure that coming from an 85% homogenous place with absolutely no issues with abuse towards migrant populations absolutely qualifies you to speak of socio-economic forces in the US.

I make it a point not to comment on other countries politics when I don't have a solid grounding on the basics of their dynamics. Perhaps that's a standpoint you should cultivate.

Except of course at the Jan 6th rally where Trump wanted security to take down the scanners so the numerous armed individuals who stayed away from his speech could join him. He wanted weapons then for use against our legislators.
