I read the NYT Front Page, so you don't have to.
'This bill is about hope’: President Biden signs End Parkinson’s Act into law

A new bill signed into law by President Joe Biden offers a sense of relief to the nearly 1 million Americans living with Parkinson's disease.

Yahoo News
@emptywheel Well, good to know I made the right decision in 2016 to end our subscription.
@emptywheel But to be fair, they had a bikini story too.
@12thRITS @emptywheel Now I wonder though is that even really about bikinis.
@ech @emptywheel "Sources who requested anonymity in exchange for the fashion judgments..."

@12thRITS @emptywheel

And my 73-year-old eyes went right to it like a heat-seeking missile. What have I become? 😱

@emptywheel

The Atlantic is doomy too 😔

@mrblissett @emptywheel @GottaLaff I’m cancelling/not renewing my Atlantic subscription for this very reason. Yesterday I counted 13-14 anti-Biden articles from July 2 to July 8. Guess what today’s article is: “The Worst Argument in Favor of Keeping Joe Biden” along with this chaser: “The Problem With Coronating Kamala Harris”
@emptywheel thank you, Marcy. Pretty sure the voting public is catching on to the massive MSM 'Kill Biden' putsch, thanks in no small part to you. Visions of the 2016 Russian 'sick Hillary' hoax are recalled by many.

@emptywheel

Media bias is more and more a real problem. Is it in fact criminal intent?

@emptywheel It's not even subtle anymore. Don't they realize that the job of State Media is going to a Murdoch-run paper, and that there is no need for a second newspaper in the fascist regime they are encouraging?

@emptywheel wow, and they wasted a lot of front-page column-inches on a photo of some unidentified guy on a bike? 😵‍💫

You'd think there was nothing important to which to draw people's attention 😡

Fantasticstuff @emptywheel

Thanks so much... this exercise should be turned into a full-time mockery of the NYT. I'd almost pay to see it, even with my typical distrust and disgust of corporatist media-infotainment complex punditry...

@emptywheel Let us not forget how far the NYT climbed up George W Bush's ass to help support he Iraq war.
And thanks for the hard work.
@emptywheel the headline at lower left about France being "ungovernable" now also sounds like far Right propaganda 🤔

@ArmyGirl @emptywheel I really don't know what's so unusual about France that makes this "ungovernable"... it really sounds like biased to say the least, either that or whoever wrote that doesn't have a clue about politics.

njsg (@[email protected])

@[email protected] You know what, I can't stand this crap anymore. Centre and left crush the far-right in France's election. NYT headline: "ungovernable". Apparently something that appears to be routine in several european countries - a democracy where no party holds an absolute majority - merits "ungovernable" in a headline...

SDF Social
@emptywheel Okay, how would Jasmine Crockett be a "lousy Presidential candidate"? I disagree on that. They need someone with some actual fight in then. Not someone who seems poised to roll over and fall asleep.

@emptywheel

very very nice analysis

thank you for taking one for the team

@emptywheel Thanks for keeping an eye on them. I can't bring myself to do it anymore, like Fox "news".
@emptywheel Yeah, the Times is really starting to piss me off.

@emptywheel

Growing up NYC in the mid 80s … I read the Daily News and the Post because it wasn’t as sophisticated and highly detailed (boring for me) as the New York Times. It was great in the early 2000 with bush cheney rushing to war with the saddam.

Today, it’s trash. The National Enquirer is more reliable!

@emptywheel you just keep drawing those red rectangles🍸🐈
@emptywheel they seem to be already auditioning for the role of state media with WaPo, WSJ, the Atlantic, also in the race.

⬆️ @emptywheel

Now #NYTimes looks like a #RightWing tabloid that it is.

This annotation is interesting:

>> #GOP platform embraces #FetalPersonhood… and wildly misrepresents current economy & record decrease in crime

Population numbers would balloon if we double-counted pregnant women and skew statistics in different directions

Considering #ZygotesInCrime would dramatically decrease already decreasing crime rate, but including #UnemployedZygotes would dramatically increase unemployment rates

@emptywheel I was hoping you’d post this here.
@emptywheel this is fine. If they think they are going to win in a landslide because things are so terrible. Then they won't come out and vote. Plus the elections are all rigged anyway.
@emptywheel we can clearly see the media bias from across an ocean here in the UK.
Reminds us how the Press here were so full on for Brexit and now they hardly mention it all...
@emptywheel Maybe we should read the "What to do when a colleague has a communication problem" article to figure out how to effectively tell the NYT they've lost the thread...again.
@emptywheel. Thank you for this superb and devastating close reading.
@emptywheel Xtra glad I don’t subscribe to that rag…or the NY Post…or the Washington Post…or…
@emptywheel I’m not saying the NYT has become a tool of a Russian influence operation in the US, just that their actions are indistinguishable from a Russian influence operation.
@jerry @emptywheel I have stopped giving them my money. It's so bad now.

@jerry @emptywheel

this has been applicable to the GOP for about 8 years now also

@pinsk @emptywheel but unlike the GOP, the NYT has a good amount of sway over left, leaning voters. At least historically.
@jerry important and true, I was just reminded of my own observation long ago:
@pinsk the frustrating thing is that many democrats see themselves as above that sort of thing, safe in the belief that Russia would never convince them to support Trump, but in the end, that isn’t what they have to do. Just like in 2016, all they have to do is split the democratic vote and then Ukraine and probably other territories are handed to Russia. .

@jerry I've always been frustrated by how straightforward the logic is, as I see it.

Unless the GOP/NYT wants for the US what the Kremlin wants, why would their objectives and messaging to promote them match the Kremlin's?

Democrats have been slow or unwilling to acknowledge this for sure.

@jerry @emptywheel Sounds like a case of POSIWID to me.

@jerry @emptywheel If it amplifies propaganda like a Russian influence op, and attacks the Democratic candidate like a Russian influence op...

🦆🦆🦆

@jerry @emptywheel
Exactly and to the same result
@emptywheel and now they’re “examining a Kamala Harris potential candidacy.” These people are fully off the rails.

@emptywheel
The NYT’s blatant & consistent bias is as unconscionable as it is hubristic.

@froomkin @markjacob @jayrosen_nyu

@emptywheel I'm not sure whats worse, NYT, or the ass-kissing of Biden in this critique of NYT.
@emptywheel GOP Shareholders must be influencing the front pages of the NYT these days
@emptywheel I liked it better in the original Russian.
@emptywheel You should send this to them as a letter to the editor. Even if it's accidental bias, it's still ends up being bias. I'm not sure there's much point in pushing for a change in leadership this late in the game. There are other news items that could be covered.
@emptywheel Thank you. You put me over the edge and I just canceled my subscription. Been meaning to for quite a while.
@emptywheel I hate to ask but did the times have any articles about nazis marching in the streets of America?
When they overlook stories like that, stories people should know about, it just tells you their interests are on specific targets for their agenda.
The Times(like all MSM) likes to set aside stories of nazis who support trump so they can talk about Biden’s age.
I can only conclude that the times is aiding & abetting the nazi white supremacist in this country who support donald trump.
