I read the NYT Front Page, so you don't have to.
@emptywheel I’m not saying the NYT has become a tool of a Russian influence operation in the US, just that their actions are indistinguishable from a Russian influence operation.

@jerry @emptywheel

this has been applicable to the GOP for about 8 years now also

@pinsk @emptywheel but unlike the GOP, the NYT has a good amount of sway over left, leaning voters. At least historically.
@jerry important and true, I was just reminded of my own observation long ago:
@pinsk the frustrating thing is that many democrats see themselves as above that sort of thing, safe in the belief that Russia would never convince them to support Trump, but in the end, that isn’t what they have to do. Just like in 2016, all they have to do is split the democratic vote and then Ukraine and probably other territories are handed to Russia. .

@jerry I've always been frustrated by how straightforward the logic is, as I see it.

Unless the GOP/NYT wants for the US what the Kremlin wants, why would their objectives and messaging to promote them match the Kremlin's?

Democrats have been slow or unwilling to acknowledge this for sure.
