IF FAST FASHION LABELS WERE TELLING THE TRUTH ๐Ÿ‘–๐Ÿ‘•๐Ÿ‘—

Just like cigarette companies have warning signs, should #FastFashion companies have warming labels as well? Fast fashion companies are known for their cheap and trendy #clothes, but at what cost? The fashion industry is one of the biggest #polluters in the world, and the fast #FashionIndustry is a significant contributor to this problem.

It's time to start thinking about the #impact our choices have on the planet. Let's demand more sustainable and ethical #fashion options.

FRENCH GOVERNMENT CONSIDERS TO BAN FAST FASHION

#Shein is the largest fashion retailer in the world -- seemingly popping up everywhere overnight. It's made billions by using #ForcedLabour and churning out cheap #plastic clothes that end up in #landfills.

Governments all over the world are considering penalties for companies that produce cheap, unsustainable clothes, and the French government is deciding right now whether or not to pass a similar bill.

1/7

This would be a HUGE win for the #environment -- what happens in #France will pave the path for others to follow. But #Shein 's lobbyists are firing all cylinders to stop the law from passing.

Let's build a massive call on France and all governments to listen to us, the #consumers, not powerful #lobbyists, and protect our #planet from the harms of #FastFashion:

Tell France and all governments: crack down on fast fashion!

2/7

The #FashionIndustry is one of the biggest #polluters โ€“ making up a staggering 10% of the worldโ€™s #CarbonEmissions. It dries up #WaterSources, pollutes #rivers, and #MicroPlastics from clothes end up in our #oceans and #seafood.

Itโ€™s crucial that the industry becomes green and fair.

Franceโ€™s proposed law would completely ban fast fashion advertising and put an environmental surcharge on fast fashion items sold.

3/7

The money from the surcharge would then go to eco-friendly brands to support more sustainable fashion. It would be a game changer for how the industry operates, but only if the biggest fashion retailer stops roadblocking change.

Tell France and all governments: crack down on fast fashion!

What Does Franceโ€™s โ€˜Banโ€™ On Fast Fashion Really Mean?

Last month, Franceโ€™s lower house of parliament unanimously voted in favour of a bill that aims to reduce fast fashion.

The bill is the first of itโ€™s kind, and if approved by the senate, will see France become the first country in the world to legislate against fast fashion and its devastating impacts.

As France weighs fast-fashion ban, is the circular economy the future of retail?

This week, France announced legislation to โ€œlimit the excesses of ultra-fast fashionโ€. Key measures include a ban on advertising for cheap textiles and an environmental charge on low-cost items. While the proposed laws need to pass a vote in Franceโ€™s senate, they signal an increased need for focus on sustainability in the retail industry.

As France weighs fast-fashion ban, is the circular economy the future of retail?

With France announcing a ban on fast fashion and big brands like Selfridges offering repair and re-sell services, could the circular economy give retailers like Temu a run for their money?

Inside Retail Australia

Brands such as #Shein should be subject to penalties of up to 50% of their garments' selling price to offset their environmental impact, French ruling-majority MPs have proposed in a new bill.
The MPs say that ultra-fast fashion brands, rather than renewing their collections four times per year like traditional clothing brands, offer thousands of new products per day, inciting excessive #spending and unnecessary #pollution.
